Everything for strengthening

II Corinthians 12:19b “…and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening.” Do you and I live our lives with the same thought as Paul expresses—our lives, words and actions are always a reflection as a child of our Heavenly Father?  If any one of us answer yes—you have reached a state of perfection!!  That would be wonderful, but none of us has.  This is; however, a thought each of us should keep in mind as representatives of our Savior.

Delight in what?

II Corinthians 12:10 “That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Paul’s reasoning seems to be in need of major therapy.  Or, if we come to that conclusion, are you and I in need of major therapy?Paul wrote that his strength was in his Savior, not himself.  Paul knew every gift, talent, security and honor he received was only a result of his tight, loving relationship with his Heavenly Father.  Paul’s gift of wisdom is in no need of therapy and if you and I think the same, neither are we.  His strength is a wonderful gift. Have a great weekend.

Know truth

II Corinthians 11:14 “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.” In many people’s minds truth is relative.  One’s opinion is as valuable as the next.  An open mind is what we should have.  There is a higher power and you determine what that power is.  The Devil loves this misguided thinking for it takes from the One and Only True God the truth of absolute truth.  The God of the Universe and His absolute truth have withstood not only the test of time, His truth has withstood all opposition and always will.  Study your Bibles for therein lies your Redeemer, your Father and your Holy Spirit.  Your Heavenly future is absolutely sealed.

Paul’s concern

II Corinthians 11:3 “But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.” The snake knew Eve had a weakness.  All the snake had to do was find it.  You and I are no different.  That is a very bold statement.  In my sober houses (The Lighthouse)  the addictions are obvious–drugs, alcohol, pornography, gambling, anger, etc.Mentors are assigned to help understand and deal with the weaknesses.  What about you and me?  What is my weakness?  What is your weakness?  Don’t let Satan win the battle.  Thankfully, Jesus won the war.  We need His help to also win the battle.

Do not boast

II Corinthians 10:18 “For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.” Being boastful is not a trait of a Christian.  I am great will never be spoken by one who is thankful for the sacrifice of our Savior.  If Jesus, who was and is indeed Great never boasted that thought of Himself, certainly you and I have less boasting rights and should express and inwardly feel and admit in all humility, we are servants and obedient children of our Heavenly Father and if there is ever glory, it is totally glory given to our Heavenly Father.
