Acts 2:5 “Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.” God-fearing believers from every nation under heaven. That’s quite a few people–that’s quite a few countries. God was not worshipped by a spec of. people who lived on a spec of the earth. Sometimes I think (and maybe you too) that there are only so few who actually look to the True God and the masses live with an irrevelant attitude toward God. God, in this passage encourages us to realize that there are many more followers of Him than we realize–and that is comforting!

Acts 2:4a “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit…” The part of the Trinity we identify as the Holy Spirit comes in different forms throughout Scripture. A dove at Jesus’ baptism, a rushing wind and flame of fire at Pentecost and living water as spoken by Jesus. The Holy Spirit lives within each of us. We should never ignore, but rather, enjoy that wonder as we walk and live our lives on this earth.

Acts 2:24 “Then they prayed, ‘Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen.'” The disciples and approximately 100 others in the room had been faithfully taught by the greatest Teacher of all time when to pray, how to pray, to whom to pray. They were not novices to praying. Our prayers are never–let’s give it a try–our prayers are always earnest conversations with our God. Our Almighty God always wants to be involved in our lives solving our problems while guiding us through life. We are foolish if we do not allow Him into our hearts constantly.

Acts 1:13-14 “When they arrived, they went to the upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew , James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” About 150 believers gathered as friends and companions. They shared a common faith. They shared a common bonding union. I have heard many times–I cannot go back there–those were my friends when I was an addict and I live in danger if I go back. The saying—you become who you hang out with is certainly an expression of truth. Realizing that truth—who do you hang out with? Have a great weekend.

Acts 1:11 ” ‘Men of Galilee they said,’ why do you stand here, looking into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven. “‘ Jesus has to come back—He cannot possibly forget about us. He has made a promise. He loves us far too much to not make that round trip and how glorious His second trip will be. When? In our time-soon–in God’s time–soom–hang on tight–He is coming soon.
