Parenting

Proverbs 1:8 “Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.” God assumes Christian parenting.  God assumes obedient children.  The result is wise children who do the same as their parents.  God, of course, knows both wise parenting and obedient children don’t always happen, but His instruction is the wisest instruction in all the world.  So, if you and I are children or parents or both, be wise and listen to our Heavenly Father.

Fear God or…

Proverbs 1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Fearing God is not to be afraid of, but rather, to have ultimate respect for an awesome and loving God.  Your and my entire existence is only because of our Creator.  How could we do anything other than listen to His wisdom and instruction?  Only fools would do anything less.  Listen, learn, apply and enjoy the peace, comfort and hope which only He can provide.

Listen receive guidance

Proverbs 1:5 “let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.” Solomon couldn’t be more direct—listen, learn, care and apply.  The most valuable course any of us could take is not on line or in a classroom–it is in our homes in a Book waiting to be opened.  Free–just like grace and peace, comfort and hope.  How blessed each of us is able to live and look forward to eternity.. Have a great weekend.

Definition of wise

Proverbs 1:5 “let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.–” The Proverbs should be a book we all read and ponder repeatedly.  The next step to reading and pondering is applying.  The applying is where our own wisdom becomes evident to both ourselves and to those we teach through our activities throughout life.

Defining intent

Proverbs 1:3 “for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair.” Solomon’s inspired words couldn’t be of more value.  Not only are they God’s words, they are words to be ingested and then become a part of your and my life, providing for wisdom and character building personality.  With that sentence being true, wouldn’t we want to not only read and study very carefully, but ultimately apply what our God has to say?
