Unbelievable plot

Acts 23:12-13 “The next morning some Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul.  More than forty men were involved in this plot.” How could a group of mature men be so evil they would lie and conspire against the truths Paul was preaching to people in regard to eternal truths?  These men were united.  They were sincere.  It appears they were willing to die rather than letting God’s grace be known.  You and I have to carefully study our Bible so we are not fooled by seemingly united, sincere and desperate liars.  Always we have to ask—what does God really say?  What is truly truth?  Without studying Scripture we also can be easily fooled.

The thinking of God

Acts 23:21 “The following night the Lord stood near Paul and said, ‘Take courage!  As you have testified about me in Jerusalem, so you must also testify in Rome.'” God never changes.  You and I have a hard time understanding that because we constantly experience change.  God knows you and I always need His encouragement.  We are often afraid to express our faith.  As God spoke to Paul He speaks to you and me—take courage and tell others about Me–I am with you!  We are never to be afraid of telling others the good news of our loving Savior.

Paul’s example for us

Acts 21:13 “Then Paul answered, ‘why are you weeping and breaking my heart?  I am ready not only to be bound. but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.”‘ Paul’s faith is an excellent example for all of us to follow.  He would never desert his best Friend.  He had a relationship with his Savior that under no circumstance would he desert.  He was willing to not only suffer, but to die rather that desert his relationship with Jesus.  Why would God include this thought in His Bible?  Could it be He wanted to teach you and me how faithful we should be?  Could it be you and I are to live and teach this same faithfulness to our children, grandchildren, friends all those we care about?  I think so–don’t you? Have a great weekend.
