Psalm 40:10 “I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly.” Should i keep God’s truths to myself? Should I tell others of our loving and gracious God? What if I lose friends if I tell others about the truths God tells us? What do I do when people disagree with me? Lots of questions—the answer according to God—do not hide; speak; do not conceal; be faithful.

Psalm 40:8 “I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” Although every one of us is far from perfect, we yet pray continually that we would live as our Father would have us live. That prayer is what David, our author, prayed continually. David knew God. David had an extremely close relationship with God, yet he knew without God’s help he could not accomplish his Father’s will. This verse is not only David’s prayer—it is your and my prayer also. Have a great weekend.

Psalm 39:7 “But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.” A secure, trusted and steadfast mind with a close loving relationship with God is what gives you and me a hope which guarantees a life both now and eternally of contentedness and value. All earthly assets are temporary. They are blessings which are enjoyable, but they are very temporary. To acquire temporary while ignoring eternal is beyond foolish. We trust God and his Word both now and eternally.

Psalm 39:4 “Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is.” God intended for us to live and never die. He is still making that happen but He has declared the consequences of our sin is death. However, He has also declared everlasting life for those who are faithful to Him. Christmas is that celebration where our Savior comes so we have that life everlasting. This life is so very short. Enjoy it, but use it to prepare for the wonderful life to come.

Psalm 38:21-22 “Lord, do not forsake me; do not be far from me, my God. Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior.” David knew where to go when he knew he could not help himself. When he was depressed or anxious or simply down he could not turn to anything or anyone else—-he needed his Savior. His ever present God would never leave him and would always give him strength. Why would God have David write these words in His Book? The answer is only too obvious as we apply these words to ourselves.
