Listen and trust

Proverbs 16:20 “Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is one who trusts in the Lord.” This verse is a short, simple, gold, phenomenal nugget of truth right in the middle of the Bible.  Who on earth does not want to prosper?  Who on earth does not want to be blessed?  The key to unlock this treasure of truth promised by God: listen to His wisdom and trust in His promises.  Read the verse again and apply its truth to your life and enjoy God’s promise.  Have a great weekend.

Dangers of pride

Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.” All of our talents and possessions are generous gifts as a result of our Heavenly Father’s love for each of us.  How could we possibly think we have accomplished anything on our own?  Our lives are totally dependent on His grace.  Humility and honor are a natural for every faith filled loved and adopted child of God– you and me.

Tangible or intangible

Proverbs 16:16 “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!” Celebrities, excellent well-paid athletes, noted wealthy investors or political figures are recognized for their notoriety or celebrity fame but are rarely known for their God-given wisdom.  The world recognizes fame but lacks in recognizing wise insight and wisdom.  You and I should never fall into the same trap, but rather pray for and practice a life of wise thought and action.

Who controls what?

Proverbs 16:9 “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” What am I going to do today?  I tend to put myself in control of my activities and don’t tend to begin my day with the constant thought–God lead me and lead me to keep that thought throughout the day.  Let’s let our Father lead and you and I simply follow in all we do.

What a promise!

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Nothing can make any of us more successful than letting God be the central focus of our lives.  We gain contentedness, peace and hope, confidence, assurance and a solid foundation.  Having a tight relationship with our God, all the ingredients of a successful life are combined to make for an assured life both on this earth and eternally. Have a great weekend.

Why?

Proverbs 16:2 “All a person’s ways seem pure to them, but motives are weighed by the Lord.” Is personal gain without hurting anyone else the reason for most of your/my activities or is our motivation for living our daily lives to serve our precious Savior?  Our God cares much more as to why we do what we do rather than the world would praise us for what we accomplish.
