A father’s responsibility

Proverbs 4:1 “Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.” A father has a responsibility to impart wisdom to his children and children have a responsibility to listen to their father.  Passing on wisdom and knowledge is one of the most important concerns a father should have.  With a lack of this duty both the child and the parent will suffer, but with an understanding both child and parent will receive benefits more valuable than gold.

God’s cursing and God’s blessing

Proverbs 3:33 “The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.” Both the visible and the invisible blessings which God gives should be the desire of all men, women and children.  And, His blessings are given to all faith filled adopted, loved and redeemed children whom He loves dearly.  You and I are the recipients of our Father’s generous blessings and grace.  We thank God for both His visible and invisible gifts.

Live without fear

Proverbs 3:25-26 “Have no fear of sudden disaster, or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.” Fear is a terrible 4 letter word.  It produces anxiety and is ruinous to living a peaceful, calm, contented and faith filled life.  When fear dominates we allow our minds to develop a weakness of trust and confidence in the faithful love of our Heavenly Father.  Our human nature allows fear to dominate us unnecessarily while our Holy Spirit nature thrives on the complete miraculous love of our Savior.  Which of our natures will we allow to dominate–we pray, with God’s help our Holy Spirit nature.

Constant truth

Proverbs 3:21a “My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight,” God’s repeated message regarding the extreme value of wisdom and understanding which ONLY come from Him.  Without our Savior and our eyes focused on Him we lead lives with no value–NO VALUE—can that be true?  Read the Bible and discover the true meaning of life, death and eternity.  Live lives of extreme value–cherish wisdom and understanding.

Value of wisdom

Proverbs 3:13-15 “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver…gold…rubies…nothing you desire…” There is nothing more valuable than wisdom as wisdom leads one to live a God pleasing and fruitful life and with persistence an eternity of wonder.  Yet, many people desire earthly tangibles and ignore what could gain wonderful success.  Always pray for wisdom.

Discipline is good

Proverbs 3:11-12 ” My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” Discipline comes with expectations of obedience.  When a child sees there are no consequences for disobedience, unfortunately a parent has just taught the child disobedience and respect and love is lost.  Whenever sinful pleasures become the norm and God’s Word and wisdom are ignored a life becomes chaotic and diseased and the love of our Heavenly Father is lost.  Lesson: love wise parents and God’s wisdom.
