Define time

II Peter 3:8 “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” God has no beginning and God has no end.  You and i cannot possibly understand that concept because everything we do revolves around time–a beginning and an ending.  To God there is no such thing.  This truth is as confounding as to what motivates God to love you and me.  There is no logical reason we can apply.  God is timeless and His love is boundless.  Praise God!

Are you a slave?

II Peter 2:19b “…for people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” What controls you?  What controls me?  What controls every person on the face of the earth?  Control is what makes everyone think and live and interact with others.  Are we controlled by our Heavenly Father or are we controlled by the way some philosophy of this world presents itself.  Let’s live the best life–that which makes us slaves to our Lord and Savior.

Inspiration

II Peter 1:21 “For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” The Bible is the inspired Word of God.  Imagine—The Almighty God, the Holy Spirit breathed into the human authors of Scripture and told them exactly what to write.  Therefore, you and I do not have only an interesting Book to study, we have an Absolute Truth Book of which there is no other.  We have a perfect Book with perfect Truth.  Wouldn’t it be foolish to not read and study such a Book? Have a great weekend.

Pass on the truth

II Peter 1:15 “And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.” You and I have the responsibility of passing on the truths of Scriture to our children, grandchildren and any other children or adults we come in contact with.  If we ignore this responsibility it will take only one generation for God’s truths to fade into a mindset of irrelevant.  How sad the consequences of ignoring responsibility.

continual reminders

II Peter 1:12 “So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.” God repeatedly reminds us of His great love for each of us.  He could just state a truth once, but He knows that we, as forgetful followers need continual reminders.  Spouses to each other, parents to children, family mambers to each other, grandparents to grandchildren etc. are continually expressing the same love thoughts to each other.  Why?  You tell me.

Work on these traits

II Peter 1:5-7 “For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverence, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.” The qualities of a faith filled Christian = goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection and love.  You and I have our work cut out for 2024.
