Personal wars

I Peter 2:11 “Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul.” A trap is dangerous and is generally thought of as a means to end the physical life of an animal or a human.  Such traps are usually intentionally set and produce pain.  Peter also writes about another trap which is extremely dangerous.  This trap affects the soul and is deadly.  This trap can easily affect our relationship with our Heavenly Father.  This trap allows our human nature to override our God fearing nature.  Be careful–avoid soul destroying traps.

Our example

I Peter 20b-21 “…But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.  To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.” Our Teacher, our Savior, our Example, wants each of us to know we have to stand up for Truth just as He stood for truth.  He came to earth for a purpose assigned by His Father.  We certainly have a different purpose, yet still have a purpose assigned by our Father.  Pray that you and I are accomplishing His purpose as He walks with each of us.

God defines you

I Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” God could not be more complimentary to His children, namely—all of Christendom , including you and me.  Wthout Him, you and I walk and live in total darkness.  And the saddest thing of all–we wouldn’t even realize it.  How can we thank Him?  Live as His faithful child!

Crave

I Peter 2:2 “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” Every mother who nurses her child does so for only so long—the child matures and eats and drinks other liquids and solid foods.  The same in our spiritual world in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.  We study. We pray.  We discuss.  We become grown up in our Christian faith.  God expects us to be babies in our faith for a short time and then to become shepherds or disciples ourselves. Pray for Wendy who is suffering from colon cancer and going through the treatment of recovery for that disease. Have a great weekend.

Because of Jesus

I Peter 1:21 “Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.” How can any of us live without Jesus?  He is our rock solid foundation.  Our faith, our hope, our life, our all is based on His ultimate love for each of us.  Let none of allow the glitter of Christmas interfere with the real reason for celebrating this season.

The price of Salvation

I Peter 1:18-19a “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ…” Key thoughts–For you know…empty way of life—you were redeemed—precious blood of Christ.Meaning: Without Jesus all of life is meaningless—with our Savior life is meaningful.  Everyone on earth makes the choice. Very simple.
