Be careful with self confidence

John 13:37 “Peter asked,’ Lord, why can’t I follow you now?  I will lay down my life for you.'” Peter was self confident, impetuous, and did not realize how much he needed his Savior at his side.  You and I should never make the mistake of thinking we have a faith which is so strong that we can be self reliant.  We have a much stronger faith when we realize we have strength in weakness.  We are in desperate need of our Savior always by our side.  When we realize that we walk with His strength and there is nothing better or stronger.

Accepting truth

John 13:20 “Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.” Jesus explains His order of mission work.  The disciple–one like you and me who have the responsibility of telling others the truths about our Savior.  The Son—the One who is our Advocate and the Father—who sent His Son who brought perfection so you and I and other Christians could appear perfectly before our Father.  Our God’s plan is perfect.

What is learned from our Teacher?

John 12:50 “I know that his command leads to eternal life..  So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say.” Following the words of our Teacher, you and I and anyone else who presents God’s teachings as God truly is, must study and accurately present as God presents Himself.  For anyone to interject their opinion is being detrimental to both themselves and to their followers and listeners.  Keep God’s Word pure.  Study His entire Word.  Represent His Truth.  Earthly and eternal life is at stake.

Jesus and purpose

John 12:46 “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” You and I have the privilege of knowing, believing and having a tight relationship with the Savior of the world.  That relationship not only lights our world on this earth but also guarantees an eternal life of joy as we walk with our Heavenly Father.  It is also your and my responsibility to teach others of this magnificent Light.

A common mistake

John 12:43 “for they loved human praise more than praise from God.” A common mistake our human nature makes is to enjoy recognition, praise and anything close to celebrity status.  It is good to receive encouragement, yet the words of praise we should all live for is to hear our Heavenly Father say to each of us — Well done, you good and faithful servant.

Isaiah to Jesus-amazing

John 12:38a & 39b “This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet…as Isaiah says elsewhere…” Isaiah lived about 700 years prior to Jesus.  Isaiah, a prophet, whose prophecies had to be inspired by God, predicted with exactness what would happpen in Jesus’ future.  Can you predict what will happen in 2723?  Noone can.  Another proof God’s Word is true.  When Jesus says He is preparing a place for you and me—believe it and look forward to your future home. A friend of mine, John, has like shingles on his face.  This is contagious and painful.  Please pray for God to heal him.  Thank you. Have a great weekend.
