Who you are

Proverbs 20:27 “The human spirit is the lamp of the Lord that sheds light on one’s inmost being.” Jesus is the Light of the world.  He sheds his Light of Truth on you and me.  You and I in turn reflect His Light as we live both displaying and expressing the Light reflected off of each of us.  We credit the Holy Spirit who lives within every Christian with igniting that glow as we faithfully follow Him because He first loved us and gave Himself for each of us to live in the comfort and peace only He can provide.

Never try to get even

Proverbs 20:22 “Do not say, ‘I’ll pay you back for this wrong!”  Wait for the Lord, and he will avenge you.” Several times within Scripture God tells every Christian to never seek revenge–Let Him handle whatever the punishment will be.  When you or I think we have a right to get back we find ourselves guilty of doing something we should not do and we will have a guilty conscience.  God has established Himself as the Righteous Judge and no one else.   Please pray for Chuck who learned he has prostate cancer and knows he needs God’s healing hand and he has to fear nothing as he can rest in peace in the arms of His Faithful Savior. Have a great weekend.

Talking too much

Proverbs 20:19 “A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.” Humility, an admirable character trait, always includes wise thinking and relatively few thought out words.  Wisdom never includes lengthy rambling.  Listen carefully, speak carefully.  Always have a mindset–am I pleasing my Father as I act and speak?

Rare vs. Abundance

Proverbs 20:15 “Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.” We all make choices every minute of every day.  Those choices are based on how our mind in conjunction with our heart function.  Those choices also include the relationship each of us has with our Heavenly Father.  We have to ask–are our choices meant to serve ourselves, others or God?  Each of our consciences has to answer that question continually as we make the correct, God pleasing and wise choice every minute of every day.  God bless our choices.

Honesty

Proverbs 20:10 “Differing weights and differing measures—-the Lord detests them both.” Purity of character is not only a trait which every Christian should always practice, but it is a character trait which our God expects of each of us.  When we deviate from this trait we always find ourselves pleasing ourselves and never pleasing our Heavenly Father.  Notice, our Author uses a very strong word in defining God’s attitude toward dishonesty.
