Look forward

II Peter 3:13 “But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.” God has never made a promise He did not fulfill.  It is impossible for our God to do anything other than perfection.  The promise: He will return.  The promise: He will create a new heaven and earth.  The promise:  You and I, along with all faith filled adopted children will enjoy the tremendous benefits of God’s second coming.  As humans we have a little fear of Jesus’ second coming.  Let that fear go—has God ever not taken care of you?  Let His complete love for us eliminate all fear, always.

Great question

II Peter 3:11 “Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be?  You ought to live holy and godly lives.” Living life is not easy.  Living life representing our God is not easy.  Living life as an adopted, loved child of God is not easy.  Living life holy and godly is impossible.  We all need a Savior.  Fortunately  our Savior lives and we are saved.  Can you think of a greater blessing?

Define time

II Peter 3:8 “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” God has no beginning and God has no end.  You and i cannot possibly understand that concept because everything we do revolves around time–a beginning and an ending.  To God there is no such thing.  This truth is as confounding as to what motivates God to love you and me.  There is no logical reason we can apply.  God is timeless and His love is boundless.  Praise God!

Are you a slave?

II Peter 2:19b “…for people are slaves to whatever has mastered them.” What controls you?  What controls me?  What controls every person on the face of the earth?  Control is what makes everyone think and live and interact with others.  Are we controlled by our Heavenly Father or are we controlled by the way some philosophy of this world presents itself.  Let’s live the best life–that which makes us slaves to our Lord and Savior.

Inspiration

II Peter 1:21 “For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” The Bible is the inspired Word of God.  Imagine—The Almighty God, the Holy Spirit breathed into the human authors of Scripture and told them exactly what to write.  Therefore, you and I do not have only an interesting Book to study, we have an Absolute Truth Book of which there is no other.  We have a perfect Book with perfect Truth.  Wouldn’t it be foolish to not read and study such a Book? Have a great weekend.

Pass on the truth

II Peter 1:15 “And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.” You and I have the responsibility of passing on the truths of Scriture to our children, grandchildren and any other children or adults we come in contact with.  If we ignore this responsibility it will take only one generation for God’s truths to fade into a mindset of irrelevant.  How sad the consequences of ignoring responsibility.
