continual reminders

II Peter 1:12 “So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.” God repeatedly reminds us of His great love for each of us.  He could just state a truth once, but He knows that we, as forgetful followers need continual reminders.  Spouses to each other, parents to children, family mambers to each other, grandparents to grandchildren etc. are continually expressing the same love thoughts to each other.  Why?  You tell me.

Work on these traits

II Peter 1:5-7 “For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverence, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.” The qualities of a faith filled Christian = goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection and love.  You and I have our work cut out for 2024.

Precious promises

II Peter I:4 “Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. How could our God’s promises be anything other than GREAT and PRECIOUS?  When we live the life style He demands–He  promises the result is a successful life—guaranteed.  When we live admiring and attempting to live the life style of anyone or anything other than God—-our lives will be full of sadness and disappointment.   You and I make the choice–2024 can be a great year.

Precious Divine calling

II Peter 1:3 “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” Our purpose for living is to honor our God while living the life He intends each of us to live.  Do you wake up in the morning and say to yourself—what am I going to do today?—or do you wake up in the morning and ask—-what does God want me to do today?  Or–what has God prepared for me to do today?  The first question focuses on me while the second question focuses on our Creator.  We do well focusing on our Creator.

Two great comforts

II Peter 1:2 “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ our Lord.” The grace and peace which we receive from our relationship with our Heavenly Father are two invisible gifts whose value is far beyond measure.  Had you been given a Rolls-Royce or Lamborghini for Christmas probably your next door neighbor and many reatives would be excited for you and probably a little jealous.  Imagine the excitement when you tell them all you love the grace and peace you received for Christmas from your Heavenly Father.  We should all be a million times more excited than getting just a car.

An example

I Peter 5:12 “With the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God.  Stand fast in it.” Nothing on this earth is more important than your faith.  With that being true—share it.
