The Father’s love

John 16:27 “No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.” We all want to love and to be loved.  Depression is the result of not feeling loved and many people suffer from the insecurity felt when love appears nonexistent.  No Christian should allow him/her self to be in the desperate mental state of feeling unloved.  Whenever that feeling arises and we see it in a person, we are obligated to help that person realize the wonderful truths of this passage.

Being hated is good?

John 15:18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.” Of all the people in the world in all of history who would be loved, it would be the definition of love–Jesus.  Yet, Jesus is hated because He tells the truth—you can’t come to the Father except through me and you cannot enter eternity with me and my Father without me.  Is Jesus the most egocentric person to ever exist or is He simply stating truth?  Jesus simply states truth and people hate Him for it.  So, when you tell the truth—at times—expect the results of this passage.

You are chosen

John 15:16a “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit…” Do you enjoy the comfort provided by being faithful to your Savior?  Why is it that you live confidently knowing your eternity will be spent in Heaven?  Have you been chosen for the purpose of being a representative of your Heavenly Father and telling others about Him for both their joy on this earth and their eternity in Heaven?  The answers are in this passage.  Enjoy!

Unbelievably good news

John 15:9  “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.  Now remain in my love.” It is impossible for the Father to be separated from the Son.  We see a little of that relationship on this earth when there is a very close relationship between loving parents and loving children.  With Jesus and you and me that love is the ultimate.  How can we do anything other enjoy that devotion?
