The greatest joy

3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.” There is not a Christian father or mother on earth who doesn’t enjoy the actions of their children as they walk in faith.  The same is absolutely true of our Heavenly Father as you and I walk through our earthly life.  We are His children.  We are loved dearly by our Father and enjoyed by Him as we follow Him in all we do.  You and I will make every effort, with His help, to make our earthly father (assuming he is faith filed) and Heavenly Father filled with joy.

A thought for us all

3 John 1:3 “It gave me great joy to have some brothers come and tell about your faithfulness to the truth and how you continue to walk in the truth.” John only wanted to speak truth, write truth, have friends who did the same and hear from other friends that the truth was their life.  John knew Jesus and therefore he knew exactly what truth was, is and forever will be.  Aren’t you and I blessed to know John, be able to study the words he wrote and 100% rely on his inspired words of truth.  Jesus lives and therefore so will we!

The best contact

II John 1:12 “I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink.  Instead, I hope to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.” If John wrote today he might use words like snapchat, text, zoom, facebook, linked in or the other multitude of social media methods of communication; however, they all fail to accomplish what face to face contact accomplishes.   Jesus could have come to earth via giant theatre screen or individual text message or… but He came in person.  We can attend church via zoom, google meet, go to meeting, etc. but nothing beats personal contact.  God thinks personal contact is so important that He planted the Holy Spirit within you—now that is personal.

A life saving question

I John 5:5 “Who is it that overcomes the world?  Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” Today you and I recall the saddest day in the history of the world.  Jesus died.  Why?  Because of the second saddest day in the history of the world–Adam and Eve fell.  Maybe those two days are equal in sadness.  It’s somewhat of a pointless discussion.  However, what is not pointless is having a faith believing Jesus lives.  We celebrate Easter on Sunday.  Jesus. our Savior has bought each of us to be His heir to eternal life.  Because of Him you and I have life.  The saddest very soon becomes the happiest. We’re sad this weekend–we are very happy this weekend!!

What does it mean to kove God?

I John 5:3-4a “This is love for God:  to obey his commands.  And his commands are not burdensome. For everyone born of God overcomes the world.” Who on this earth do you love?  A spouse, a child, a friend, a boyfriend, a girlfriend, a parent??  Would you ever abuse them or ignore them or in any way find it burdensome to live with them?  Never!  Let’s apply a little human thinking to God thinking.  Do you love God?  Absolutely you love God.  Then let your love for Him show.  Enjoy His disciplining and enjoy His Words– whatever they are.  Whatever they are?  Absolutely–all are written out of love and insure you and I live lives of abundance.  Enjoy!!

Question

I John 4:15 “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.” Question: Do you believe and confess that Jesus is the Son of God?  This question is not asking for some words of explanation.  This question is asking a question requiring a simple yes or no.  A no answer has extreme consequences.  A yes answer has extreme benefits.  Imagine: your yes answer gives you the most blessed life possible.  Your yes answer makes you a child of God with the security and peace only God can freely give.  Live knowing your answer.  Live both on this earth and eternally with a joy and comfort which is beyond our understanding.
