Acts 2:47b “….And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” All the Apostles did was use their talents, given by God, to tell others of the truths they had been told and witnessed The Apostles could change no one’s heart. That truth is the same for you and me. All you and I can do is expose the truth and then let the Holy Spirit enter a person’s heart and make it whole. It is phenomenal that you and I have the privilege of working with God.

Acts 2:38-39a “Peter replied,’Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children…'” God will never promise and then not fulfill that promise. It never matters when God makes His promise, He will always abide by that promise. This passage expresses one of the valuable promises God has made to each of us. Imagine the rewards of this beautiful promise!

Acts 2:32 “God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact.” Proof demands eyewitness accountability. Peter told the group—we have absolute proof and truth. Many, many people witnessed Jesus living, dying and rising after His death. Jesus has to be God as there has never been even a similiar event such as this. This is undeniable proof. Jesus is real. Jesus is God. Jesus is our Savior. How blessed we are. Have a great weekend.

Acts 2:14b “…Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you, listen carefully to what I say.” Peter knew human nature so he started his explanation—listen carefully. He is telling you and me—read carefully! If you really want to learn so you can apply–read and study what I am about to teach you. Peter is also implying —-some of you will not listen and you will therefore miss the entire purpose of Jesus and His life. You make the choice–listen, learn and apply OR ignore, live with no purpose and gain nothing. You and I listen carefully to Peter, our inspired writer.

Acts 2:5 “Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.” God-fearing believers from every nation under heaven. That’s quite a few people–that’s quite a few countries. God was not worshipped by a spec of. people who lived on a spec of the earth. Sometimes I think (and maybe you too) that there are only so few who actually look to the True God and the masses live with an irrevelant attitude toward God. God, in this passage encourages us to realize that there are many more followers of Him than we realize–and that is comforting!

Acts 2:4a “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit…” The part of the Trinity we identify as the Holy Spirit comes in different forms throughout Scripture. A dove at Jesus’ baptism, a rushing wind and flame of fire at Pentecost and living water as spoken by Jesus. The Holy Spirit lives within each of us. We should never ignore, but rather, enjoy that wonder as we walk and live our lives on this earth.

Acts 2:24 “Then they prayed, ‘Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen.'” The disciples and approximately 100 others in the room had been faithfully taught by the greatest Teacher of all time when to pray, how to pray, to whom to pray. They were not novices to praying. Our prayers are never–let’s give it a try–our prayers are always earnest conversations with our God. Our Almighty God always wants to be involved in our lives solving our problems while guiding us through life. We are foolish if we do not allow Him into our hearts constantly.

Acts 1:13-14 “When they arrived, they went to the upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew , James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas the son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.” About 150 believers gathered as friends and companions. They shared a common faith. They shared a common bonding union. I have heard many times–I cannot go back there–those were my friends when I was an addict and I live in danger if I go back. The saying—you become who you hang out with is certainly an expression of truth. Realizing that truth—who do you hang out with? Have a great weekend.

Acts 1:11 ” ‘Men of Galilee they said,’ why do you stand here, looking into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven. “‘ Jesus has to come back—He cannot possibly forget about us. He has made a promise. He loves us far too much to not make that round trip and how glorious His second trip will be. When? In our time-soon–in God’s time–soom–hang on tight–He is coming soon.

Acts I:7″He said to them, ‘it is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem , and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth,'” You and I are witnesses for our Heavenly Father. We do not know His timing, but we can be fully confident that all He has said is true and will absolutely happen. Our Father could tell us His timing, but that would not be for our good. Why not tell us His timing? Let’s ask Him when we see Him.

Acts 1;4 “On one ocassion, while he as eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized wih water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Jesus new exactly what He was talking about. Pentecost was coming. A wonderful day was coming. Jesus did not want anyone to miss out.

II Peter 3:18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. Peter offers each of us very sound advise. Study His Word, work on becoming faith filled, dedicate your life to Him and in everything you do let Him lead you. While living such a life you and I will be abundantly blessed. Have a great weekend.
