II Corinthians 4:4 “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” There could not be a sadder truth than what this passage states. The god/gods of this time and life often seem to bring irresistible pleasures which dominate the lives of many. The truth is: these pleasures are so very temporary and damaging to an eternity of joy. If God seems boring or lacking one does not know God. There is nothing more thrilling and satisfying than enjoying a close relationship with our Heavenly Father.

II Corinthians 1:24c “…we work with you for your joy, because it is by faith you stand firm.” A strong faith gives you and me stability. You and I can own all this world has to offer for security, but no one can buy the most secure possession: faith. Stability and surety are gifts from our Heavenly Father, though intangible, are the most solid possessions we can ever hope to call ours. Joy, peace and security are evidence of a faith which will never fail.

II Corinthians 1:21-22 “Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” Phenomenal truths: 1. God makes us stand firm in the truth of our Savior. 2. He blesses us and makes us His own. 3. God, the Almighty God, has placed His Holy Spirit within you and me. 4. God guarantees our future with Himself. Even though each one of these truths are beyond our understanding, there is no earthly superlative we can apply which explains our wonder and appreciation for the marvels of these blessings. Each of us thanks our Heavenly Father! Have a great weekend.

II Corinthians 1:3c&4 “…the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” Anxiety is extreme mental discomfort. Contentedness and the relaxed feeling of well-being are gifts from our God. Having a firm and faithful relationship with our Heavenly Father is the key we all want and need. That key of comfort makes it possible to endure all the troubles of this life. God not only gives us that key of comfort, He tells us to lovingly share it. What a privilege to tell others of our Magnificent God.

II Corinthians 1:2 “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” When Paul wrote a letter this verse was his typical introduction. He wanted everyone he wrote to to know the love and comfort which comes from knowing and having a close, faithful relationship with God. God, obviously, wants you and me to know the same blessing. To have such a relationship with Him is the greatest blessing every Christian enjoys. Enjoy being blessed!

I Corinthians 16:13 “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Being wishy-washy is not God’s way. Knowing His will and abiding by that will is God’s way. God’s way produces strength, contentedness, success and eternal life with our Savior for all of eternity. God, give each of us the faith to know and live by Your will.

I Corinthians 16:7c “…if the Lord permits.” God willing or If the Lord permits are identical thoughts every Christian continually has on his/her mind as life is lived. We all make plans knowing if God wants us to go in another direction–that is the direction we go. When we allow God to direct our lives we know all is well. Who would you rather have in control–you or God? Have a great weekend.

I Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” What an amazing verse. My dear brothers–stand firm–let nothing move you—give yourselves fully—your labor is not in vain. Each group of words is a dissertation of its own. God’s absolutes are so wise and life saving they express truths for all eternity. Total confidence in our God—TOTAL confidence in walking with our Savior is the wonderful privilege every Christian can not just enjoy, but cherishes. How wonderful it is to have such a close, loving relationship with our Heavenly Father.

I Corinthians 15:57 “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Any victory is pleasant at the very least. There is celebration even over small victories. Jesus has given you and me a reason to celebrate with the largest celebration possible. He has conquered death. Our lives have to be filled with a celebration that has jumping and rejoicing that would make any one watching comment–what is wrong with that guy! Jesus conquered death! That is cause for a phenomenal/fabulous/way over the top celebration!

I Corinthians 15:26 “The last enemy to be destroyed is death.” Jesus overcame even death through His resurrection. You and I will experience death if this world does not end first. After death we, because of the work of our Savior, will also experience a resurrection. We will become spiritual, live with our God forever and enjoy the happiness we have never experienced before. That is the greatest blessing which we are yet to receive. Death, man’s greatest fear, has been smashed/destroyed/demolished because of our beloved Savior. With faith we live in fear no more. A friend of mine has a prayer request: I got laid off from my job last Friday and my last day is Thursday this week. I’m viewing this as a time of opportunity to seek the Lord’s will for my life.I would appreciate prayers that stand in agreement for God’s will for me. Thanks,Marty

I Corinthians 15:20 “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep.” There is nothing more joyful than knowing our Savior was raised from the dead. No gift you will ever receive will make you happier. If Jesus had not risen our faith would be meaningless, BUT, He did rise so our faith is magnificent. Our life on this earth has meaning and purpose and eternity in Heaven is guaranteed. What better news can you hear on this Monday morning?
