Acts 18:9b-10a “‘Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you…”‘ God instructed Paul and God made a promise to Paul. That same instruction and promise applies to you and me. Fearlessly teach–that is God’s instruction. Study your Bible. Know the Truth and help others understand the Truth. That is what it means to have a purpose driven and successful life filled with hope, peace, contentedness and service to our Savior.

Acts 17:31 “For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.” Yesterday we all celebrated Easter—not because of cute rabbits or ham dinners, but because the Resurrection can easily be defined as the most important historical event ever. Jesus could have been born, suffered and died, but had He not risen from the dead all would have been in vain. Our Heavenly Father had a perfect plan to bring us to Himself. He demands perfection and only His Son could be our Perfection Advocate. Jesus’ resurrection makes you and me perfect before our God in Heaven. Easter is the ultimate of the ultimate. Love and Easter are the same. Praise be to God.

Acts 17:28a “For in him we live and move and have our being…” Without our God in our lives life becomes meaningless. Meaningless and extremely short. A person’s life is so temporarily continually adjusted to perform as one goes through the unique phases of life. Childhood, teen years, early adulthood, middle age, tired time, closing one’s eyes time. All of these times can be most enjoyable with our Savior at our side while living a purposeful life or they can be a waste of time without Him. Doesn’t it only make sense for all time to be both a God given purposeful time and an enjoyable time? Have a great weekend.

Acts 17:25 “And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.” Every breath you and I take is a gift. Our heart pumping blood and providing life to our bodies is a gift. All our assets–real estate, toys, savings, investments—everything we claim to be ours is a gift. There is nothing we can do to increase our Father’s treasure—-except—our hearts. That is what our God wants and that is what we joyfully give Him.

Acts 17:20 “‘You are bringing some strange ideas to our ears, and we want to know what they mean.”‘ The Bible is full of strange ideas to many people. The Bible begins with the truth of Creation. It continues with strange blood filled laws. Faithful rulers, judges, kings of God’s people are exposed as sinful human beings. A Savior is continually promised and when He appears He is rejected by His own people who are looking for something totally other that God promised. The Bible and God’s truth can be looked on as a strange philosophy or as God’s holy and inspired truth. Is the Bible–Basic instruction before leaving earth? It certainly is. Study it.

Acts 17:2b-3a “…he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead…” Every person on earth has opinions. These billions of opinions may be correct or they might be incorrect. The only place you and I can find absolute truth, where opinions are totally meaningless, is Scripture. Therefore, in any discussion where truth is absolutely necessary we must go where absolute truth is found. We thank God that He has given you and me such an absolute truth Resourse where truth never changes and is absolute.

Acts 16:34b “…he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole family.” Can it be said of each of us that we are filled with joy because we have a tight relationship with our God? Nothing is more valuable than that relationship. Yet, does that wonderful relationship bring each of us the joy it should or are we complacent and just live our lives without realizing the joy, peace and comfort that relationship provides? Celebrate the relationship—have Christmas and Easter daily.

Acts 16:30b-31a “‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved..”‘ There is no other way to be saved other than to believe in our Savior. Good works, though a necessary display of faith, don’t bring salvation. Tithing or conscientious giving is fine but neither buy eternal life. Praying to the saints accomplishes nothing. Worshipping other gods is a total waste of time, though many throughout the world practice popular religions. The absolutely only way to be saved is to have a wholesome relationship with our Savior. God’s words of absolute truth are our one and only road to eternal life with Him.

Acts15:32 “Judas and Silas, who themselves were prophets, said much to encourage and strengthen the brothers.” The intended result of encouragement is a strengthening of faith. Criticism results in just the opposite. Therefore, eliminate gossip or fault finding in those you or I should be loving and encouraging. Always encourage–having an attitude of putting yourself in a humble state and treating others even better than you want yourself to be treated. Realize what our Advocate, Jesus, our Teacher has done for each of us.

You and I tell others about the truths of Scripture and then the Holy Spirit does His work of having the seed of truth grow. Without the Holy Spirit none of us would have a faith. Thank God for the work of the Holy Spirit within each of us.

Acts 15:11m “…We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved…” Our Heavenly Father’s, though undeserved, grace or complete love for each of us is what brings each of us to Himself. There is NOTHING you or I can do to warrant His love. Our good works simply are our “thank you” for this imcomprehensive gift. It makes no human sense. Maybe our first question to Him as we enter Heaven will be, “why’. For now–enjoy the phenomenal benefits.

Acts 15:8a “God, who knows the heart…’ Appearances are one thing while the thoughts within or actions of the heart can easily be another. How can this be? Man can only evaluate man by what he sees. Man tries to manipulate, tries to get what he wants and acts often based on self centered desires. God sees man who he really is. There is no fooling God. God knows the desires of the heart. Are our desires to serve Him faithfully? That is exactly what our Heavenly Father sees in each of us. His love craves your and my faithful heart.
