Proverbs 22:9 “The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.” Keep and save all you can because some day you might need it is not the mentality Solomon writes about—just the opposite. God’s wisdom tells us to be generous and He will bless us. Very simple, yet profound—Want to be blessed? Be generous.

Proverbs 22:7 “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” If a person does not have either a rent or mortgage or car loan payment, that person can earn that much less money and be in the same financial position. Or with no payments and being debt free a person’s income increases by the amount of former debt. A wise lifestyle is to be debt free. Thank you to all veterans for serving us and our Country.

Proverbs 22:6 “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Parenting well is the most important responsibility any mother or father has. Every Christian parent trains their children and prays for their children. Unfortunately, other influences affect children, young adults and children as they become adults. Although this passage is certainly true, as is all of Scripture, we all know sin infests even our children and though they are trained well, sometimes our children fall. We parents live praying for our children that they avoid the calamities of this world. Have a great weekend.

Proverbs 22:4 “Humility is the fear of the Lord; its wages are riches and honor and life.” Fearing God is a wonderful mindset. In this case fear does not mean to be afraid of or to violently tremble at the thought of God. Just the opposite—fear means to most lovingly respect, honor and hold our Father in a high degree of esteem. You and I need to place God far above ourselves as we need Him much more than He needs us; however, His desire to bless you and me is of ultra importance to Him. What a phenomenal God we honor.

Proverbs 22:2 “Rich and poor have this in common; The Lord is the Maker of them all.” God is not only the Creator of the massive universe, He is also the Creator of each of us and all other people and creatures that not only walk this earth but live in the sea and fly in the air. It is very hard–actually impossible, to understand the power God has. Yet, some are foolish enough to think and say He doesn’t even exist. If not God then ????? Faith is a much easier truth explanation.

Proverbs 22:1 “A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” Wealth, a great body, educational degrees or a position of power are sought after by many. There is nothing wrong with having any of these traits. God would have us know that He blesses us with all of the preceding, but our reputation is far greater than all. All of us should imbed this passage in our hearts so we live lives which please our Heavenly Father.

Proverbs 21:30 “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord.” There is no shortage of both men and women who live thinking they have a similar authority or maybe even a higher power than the God of the universe. How anyone can assume such reasoning is beyond absurd. Fallible man can never even approach the massive superlative power of our Heavenly Father. We praise our Almighty God.

Proverbs 21:26 “All day long he craves for more, but the righteous give without sparing.” More is a usual answer to the question–how much $ and benefits do you want along with the # of toys in the garage. Unions, vendors, manufacturers, landowners, almost all individuals answer the question with the same word–more. The other answer to the question is another question–I want to give more to those in need and help where help is appreciated. One answer looks inwardly-to oneself, the other looks outwardly to others. Which category is each of us in? Solomon has advise. Have a great weekend.

Proverbs 21:25 “The craving of a sluggard will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work.” Solomon, in the Scripture he was inspired to write, always expressed truth in an interesting and thoughtful manner. He didn’t simply say–lazy people live and die poor. He could have, but God wanted you and me to think. What are the carefully written, meaningful words? Craving–sluggard–death–hands–refuse. The explanation gives a perfect description and understanding just like the rest of Scripture.

Proverbs 21:23 “Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.” Without an intentional formation of sounds and the shaping of the tongue words could not be spoken. However, with intentional use of the tongue and sound a person can express thought. Now, using the mouth and tongue, one can speak to their own detriment or can speak to honor God, themselves and/ or their fellow mankind. We choose how we make use of these two instruments. Let’s all be wise in our choices.

Proverbs 21:21 “Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.” There is nothing lackadaisical about the word pursue. God’s intended purpose for each of us is to, with all our heart, seek and find Him. We never pursue with an attitude of—oh, well, maybe, I don’t know—rather, we pursue with a 100% success mentality. Conclusion? Pursue God’s intended purpose for your life and reap wonderful rewards.

Proverbs 21:20 “The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.” Interesting statistic: Almost 80% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Another: Almost 30% of Americans have zero savings.Another: About 80% of Americans have credit card debt. Solomon classifies these Americans very uncomplimentary. With very minor changes in money management these American statistics could easily change. Foolish thinking can certainly change into wise thinking. What category are you or I in?
