Proverbs 29:23 “Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor.” Pride is owned by a person who actually has nothing else than self-esteem. That type of person is always looking at his own accomplishments and making little of other’s accomplishments– eventually losing the respect he/she craves from others. Therefore, pride will not take too long and downfall results. Humility is the only trait owned by a very strong character.

Proverbs 29:20 “Do you see someone who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for them.” Listen carefully. Analyze carefully. Look for a calm response. Impetuous behavior will never result in a successful outcome. Always think wisdom. Accept responsibility and remember who you represent. Your life will assume a calm and who doesn’t want that?

Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.” This seems like a difficult verse to understand but it expresses a simple very important thought: When God’s Word is ignored chaos and self-pleasure reign supreme and people become lost looking only for pleasure. However, when people are wise and have a relationship with the True God, contentedness and true success are the prize. So, live always searching or live always blessed. Simple choice.

Proverbs 29:17 “Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire.” Our human nature suggests just the opposite of this passage. We sometimes think–give freedom, let the child express him/herself and they will grow up with a flourishing mentality. God tells us the opposite–discipline your child with love and they will learn self-control, contentedness and their lives will be much richer than growing up in chaos. Which is our guide–God or our human nature? My brother-in-law went to be with his Savior yesterday. Please pray for peace and contentedness for my sister and his children and grandchildren. Have a great weekend.

Proverbs 29:11 “Fools bring full vent to their rage, but the wise bring calm in the end.” The book of Proverbs, written about 3000 years ago, is as true today as it was when it was written. A fool never changes and a wise person continues to have the same traits as in the past. Chaos has always been and will always be in the life of a person who lives without the contented relationship one could have with their Heavenly Father and calm and peace reign when a wise person has a tight relationship with their Savior. Your and my choice.

Proverbs 29:1 “Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.” God is only so patient. Eventually His patience ends. You and I are only so patient. This thought is weighed with God’s everlasting love and your and my forgiving seventy times seven. God’s grace is life long, but He can shorten lives when disobedience reigns. Listen, learn and live as He demands. Rest in your Savior’s arms. Develop a tight relationship with your Heavenly Father.

Proverbs 28:27 “Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.” One of the traits of a faithful child of God is generosity. All Christian churches only exist because of generosity. Christian nonprofit organizations exist only because of generosity. You and I are continually asked to donate to either organizations or to individuals and we respond with generosity. Because of this God promises He will bless each of us. You and I are told to give, we do and are blessed. Continue to pray for a generous heart.

Proverbs 28:26 “Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.” When you or I have a difficult relational/decision problem do we go to the psychology book along with our own thinking for a solution or do we fold our hands and ask God for His ultimate wise guidance and place our concerns in His hands and authority? This passage is the answer to the question. We all should remember God’s answer in all cases for a much more contented life.

Proverbs 28:25 “The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper.” I don’t know anyone (and I think you don’t either) who wants to be a failure. We all want to experience happiness or joy and be a success. God makes happiness, joy and success so easy and guaranteed —He says–Trust in Me and all goodness is yours. The formula is as easy as 1+1 = 2. Why do we all at times make life so difficult. Can we make 2025 a prosperous year? We know the formula. Julie is having a difficult time in the development of her business. Pray that God give her guidance as she will listen to His direction. Have a great weekend.

Proverbs 28:20 “A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.” Two people own corvettes. One says–thank you, God for this exciting blessing while the other says–I deserve this because I worked hard. Same car, same seeming pleasure driving it, but worlds apart in appreciation and attitude. You and I watch and can’t tell the difference between the two—-but God can. God is joyful over one and disappointed in the other. Which “corvette” owner are you and I? What “corvette” owner will you and I be in 2025?Happy New Year to all!

Proverbs 28:19 “Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty.” God must love a hard-working farmer, tradesman, teacher, business person or/and those who work and work hard. Skilled persons who work hard are simply admired. Not only are they admired, they are blessed. Unfortunately, they still experience the woes of this life. However, those who aren’t willing to work hard, experience woes and live lives while experiencing a life of poverty. Poverty or abundance–fantasies or hard work—we all make a choice.

Proverbs 28:6 “Better the poor whose walk is blameless than the rich whose ways are perverse.” Wouldn’t it seem natural for a person who has money galore and a few multi-million dollar houses and a mega yacht and a few Lamborghinis etc. to be so extremely appreciative for the blessings they are able to enjoy and share? They would want to thank God from sun up to sun down. And their faith would be extremely evident. However, Solomon writes just the opposite. Wealth is dangerous. Life is very short–eternity is forever. Prepare for forever and our lives then are truly rich and blessed. Have a great weekend.
