Our walk

Proverbs 10:9 “The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.” Honesty or uprightness or integrity are all synonyms for the character all of us should practice as a natural part of our lives.  Just the opposite is ruinous and will destroy anyone’s trust.  Always be honest.  Simple, extremely valuable truth. Have a great weekend.

Is this self evident?

Proverbs 10:4 “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.” Every human adult with normal mental capacity has the responsibility of being accountable at the least for themselves.  When the least of responsibilities is ignored only failures result.  Life becomes purposeless and despondency results.  When the opposite is practiced and a purposeful life is lived, wealth, contentedness and joy are realized.  Imagine including the love and blessing of our Heavenly Father.  Life doesn’t get better and one’s future couldn’t look brighter.

Wisdom=joy; Foolishness=grief

Proverbs 10:1 “A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.” Parenting and leading is not easy.  Those of you who are parents—have you had the continual thought—how can I expose my God-given children to think wisdom?  To those in a leadership position—do you think—how can I teach wisdom?  If that type of wise thinking is continually exposed and is grasped by the one intended to gain, the result will be a joy and a life full of reward for wisdom is a treasure chest without measure.

Become wiser and smarter

Proverbs 9:9 “Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.” Does God use you to do the instruction or teaching or does He use you to do the gaining of wisdom and learning?  Or does God use you for both?  Are you a faithful disciple?  Are you righteous because of the saving, sacrificial work of our Savior?  You are becoming wiser and more learned.  What a blessed person you are.

Value of wisdom

Proverbs 8:35 “For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.” The book of Proverbs is a constant exposure of the value of wisdom.  Thinking, living, teaching and constantly applying the life saving mentality of wisdom.  Without the true God in one’s life wisdom will never be found.  Therefore, the only conclusion one can come to is:  Study the Scriptures and gain a life of wisdom.

Listen and be blessed

Proverbs 8:23-24 “Listen to my instruction and be wise, do not ignore it.  Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.” Do you want to be blessed?  Do I want to be blessed?  Being blessed is the reward given by our Father as we seek wisdom.  Is seeking wisdom a wise choice?  We would all agree—That is a foolish question. Have a great weekend.

Listen–Be blessed

Proverbs 8:32 “Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.” To be reminded daily of the extreme value of listening to our Father is one of the joys of being a Christian.  When God calls us son (He includes daughters) there is such a wonderful relationship established. The joy that word–son–brings, as we realize the wow, the amazing, the eternal significance God has given each of us is beyond measure.  Not enough can be said about the wonderful, blessed honor it is to be His son.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Gain wisdom–gain amazing results

Proverbs 8:17-18 “I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.  With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.” Pray daily for wisdom.  Your and my life will be lived in abundance as we practice a mentality dominated by wisdom.  When God infuses any of His children with wisdom and His child lives and thinks accordingly, the result is a peace, contentedness and understanding which cannot be found through the accumulation of any earthly treasure.  Wisdom is priceless.  Pray for wisdom.

What does fear mean?

Proverbs 8:13 “To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.” The concept of living in fear is the exact opposite of what one would be told by a therapist.  God says—absolutely live in fear and listen carefully how I define fear.  Fear is hating those attributes of self which are damaging to one’s character and which bring a Christian mindset to destruction.  Fearing the Lord is the most loving relationship one can have between Father and child.  Wrap your arms around Him as He wraps His arms around you.  That’s the responsibility of any Father and child–earthly or Heavenly.

Wisdom or wealth?

Proverbs 8:10-11 “Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is more precious than rubies and nothing you desire can compare with her.” How concerned are we about our income, maintaining our lifestyle or being/ becoming successful in a career or business ?  Is our top priority in life having a close relationship with our Father and gaining wisdom which only He offers?  Each of us faces the answers to these questions.  Our contentedness, which each of us desires, depends on our answer.

The obvious

Proverbs 8:1 “Does not wisdom call out?  Does not understanding raise her voice? Much of humanity is unnecessarily confused.  God, our Almighty God, has had a Book written and has created a world where His truths are displayed and obvious.  One has the will or ability to either ignore His truths or grasp them and enjoy the life God has intended for all.  God’s absolute truths are in full view and are intended to make mankind both knowledgeable and wise.  How are you observing the obvious? Have a great weekend.

A loving introduction

Proverbs 7:1 “My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.” God begins the thoughts which follow with the loving words—My son.  All His children He refer to as—My.  God uses a possessive pronoun —My— to establish the most loving relationship known.  Then He follows with instruction.  Some have called the word Bible an acronym for—-Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth.  It does all of us well to love our study of this Instruction Manual.
