Pray for wisdom

Proverbs 3:13-15 “Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.  She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.” We all seem to be affected by earthly wealth.  The homes and incomes of the “stars” make headlines.  We totally honor the wrong people for the wrong reasons.  Earthly wealth is so very short lived.  Wisdom not only awards a person with a wealth which exceeds the stuff of this life, but it guarantees an eternity of joy with loved ones which includes our Savior.  Pray for wisdom.

The wisdom of discipline

Proverbs 3:11-12 “My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves as a father the son he delights in.” Without discipline only chaos is the result.  God is not talking about brutality or any kind of cruelness.  Love always dominates.  A child loves order and stability, as do you and I.  Discipline without loving concern is not God’s discipline as it should not be yours or mine.  Correction, guidance, and instruction all lead to stability and success in life.  Why would we want anything less?

Give and be blessed

Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” Many of us think the more we hoard the more we gain; whereas just the opposite is true.  Generosity and blessing are twins.  When one is generous blessing follows.  When blessing happens generosity follows.  Follow your God nature and your life will thrive; follow your human nature and you will struggle.

Everything

Proverbs 3:6 “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Troubles in the world, in our own country, within our communities and even within ourselves in our private lives dominate life.  Should we shrug our shoulders and conclude—oh well, that’s the way it is, that is the way it always has been and that is what the future will be.  OR, should we carefully look at this passage and put God in the forefront of all we do and let Him guide our paths?  We, our communities, our country and the world would be a different place.  We can try and effect the world, but at the least we can effect ourselves and ripples will occur.

Familiar verse

Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” What a simple sentence.  The depth of this simple sentence is the foundation of our faith.  That thought changes this simple sentence into one of the most important statements of faith in all of Scripture.  If we truly believe the thought expressed in this simple sentence we have found the peace which passes all understanding.  Pray for such a faith! Have a great weekend.

2 key words

Proverbs 3:3-4 “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.  Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.” Love and faithfulness are traits which define children of God.  Our Heavenly Father defines both.  He is love and His promises are absolute.  You and I are heirs of both His love and faithfulness.  We are also students of our Heavenly Father, learning from Him the most beneficial traits defined as success.  LOVE and FAITHFULNESS—-THAT IS YOUR NAME!

The value of wisdom

Proverbs 2:12 “Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse.” Wisdom is a way of thinking. It is an attitude.  It is a lifestyle.  It is a way a person carries themselves-poise.  Wisdom is an infusion into a person’s heart and soul.  Wisdom is God given and carries a mindset of both this life and eternity.  Wisdom is an extremely valuable component of every Christian’s being.  Pray for an abundance of it. Please pray for a friend of mine and her mother as her stepdad  recovers from an alcohol episode and has what appears to be severe brain damage.  They are all suffering and need help with our God’s wisdom.

Take care!

Proverbs 2:11 “Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you;” Impetuousness demands failure.  Who wants failure?  Apparently many.  Drugs and alcohol have become solutions–many times deadly solutions, while God thinking is not looked on as, not only a way to think, but the way to think.  Children, because of the love of their parents, should be taught, as well as parents live their lives with the knowledge of their Heavenly Father walking at their side guiding, encouraging and lovingly protecting them.  Then—appropriate decisions are very likely to be made.

His protection

Proverbs 2:8 “for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.” If lucky was a positive Christian term–you and I couldn’t be more lucky.  Would it be more proper to say–blessed, loved, favored, guarded–you can come up with any term which describes the thought of our Heavenly Father hugging you in His protective way every second of our lives.  How wonderful is it to have a faith filled cherished relationship with our Father!

Wisdom through osmosis?

Proverbs 2:6 “For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” From prayer and study of God’s Word comes wisdom.  Osmosis will not work.  Gaining wisdom, knowledge and understanding is the desire of every Christian.  Therefore, there is only one conclusion we can reach–pray and study. Have a great weekend.

A truth and a promise

Proverbs 2:1-5 “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.” accept—store up—turning—applying—call out—cry aloud—look—search—THEN…..WOW—FANTASTIC!!!!

What a promise!

Proverbs 1:33 “but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Have you ever wondered how often God has carried you in your life?  You know He never leaves you, but do you think He just looks from 8 feet away and observes?  That distance viewing is impossible.  Every faith filled Christian enjoys the pleasure their Savior promises as we walk through this life.  There is no covid distancing with our Heavenly Father.  He is always touching each of His dear children–and you are one of them.
