Psalm 143:1 “O Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief.” David, our Psalmist, knew he NEEDED God in his life. He was absolutely positive God was at his side, God would listen to his prayer and He would give him peace and comfort. David loved God and he knew God loved him. You and I can substitute our name in place of David’s name and the same truths will apply. We cannot thank God enough!

Psalm 142:3 “When my spirit grows faint within me, it is you who know my way. In the path where I walk men have hidden a snare for me.” Without God by our side supporting each of us we will be overwhelmed by the thinking of a world which places God as either nonexistent or equal to man or even beneath man. We must never be fooled by man’s thinking which can easily seem both the majority and correct. All wise thought always places our Mighty Creator as the essence of Truth. We pray His absolute truth continually is our focus regardless of man’s seemingly dominant yet inappropriate and erroneous thinking.

Psalm 141:8 “But my eyes are fixed on you, O Sovereign Lord; in you I take refuge—do not give me over to death.” David knew he, like every other human needed God’s constant help. He knew his life would be content, peaceful and secure if he focused on the wisdom of his Heavenly Father. He also knew that left to himself failure would be the result and failure could be devastating. Therefore, David prayed. Therefore, you and I also pray this same prayer.

Psalm 141:3 “Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.” The responsibility of a guard is to provide safety and security. Parts of our own bodies can generate danger and become our own enemy. Not only can our mouths hurt ourselves, our words can hurt others even to such a degree that a person can be hurt for life. Spouses, parents, friends or someone unfamiliar can be hurt or can cause hurt and that hurt might very slowly heal or never heal. Let us be very careful with the words we speak.

Psalm 141:1 “O Lord, I call to you; come quickly to me. Hear my voice when I call to you.” Every Christian on earth communicates with their Heavenly Father. That continual conversation is the life stream we all enjoy with God. What an honor it is for all of us to enjoy the ability of talking with our Almighty God, knowing He is listening, sincerely cares about what we are saying and lovingly answers as is always best. Have a great weekend.

Psalm 139:17 “How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them!” There is only one way to learn how and what God thinks. We all listen to others thoughts throughout the day. We evaluate them and either apply them or ignore them. Not so with God’s thoughts. We study His thoughts and apply them. The more we know of God’s thoughts the wiser and more successful we become. As we age and study we become rich. We could not be more blessed.

Psalm 139:13 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” God has known you since conception. He is responsible for your conception and development even in your mother’s womb. No one is closer to you than your Heavenly Father. The miracle of you is not generally realized. How can that miracle not be understood? Because most people do not know this passage or do not understand its content. YOU ARE A MIRACLE OF GOD!!Isn’t that an outstanding thought to begin your day.

Psalm 139:1 “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.” Who knows you better than God? No one! Is that good or is that bad? Both! Our thoughts are known to Him. Our actions are known to Him. Someone might say—so what? Well, when each of us searches our own hearts we have to come to the conclusion we need a Savior. God knows that and because of His wisdom and great love for each of us He sent His Son. That is why we celebrate Christmas, Easter and Ascension every day.

Psalm 138:8 “The Lord will fulfill his purpose, for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever—do not abandon the works of your hands.” This prayer of David’s is also your and my prayer. Why did God give you life? He has a specific purpose for you. We are not aimless wonderers seeking a fortune and trying to enjoy this life. We are to serve our Savior and fulfill our purpose which He has determined for each of us. What is God’s purpose for you?

Psalm 138:7 “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me.” The confidence you and I have in the ever presence of God is unfailing. Through happiness and sadness God is present. And we all experience both. He is always our guide, our protector, our Salvation. Our fear factor with a strong faith is 0. We pray God always give us such a faith. Have a great weekend.

Psalm 136:1 “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, His love endures forever.” There are 26 verses in this Psalm and after each are the words—His love endures forever. Have a conversation with someone you love and after every sentence say the words—My love for you is forever. Do this 26 times and mean it. Do you think you and they would get the point? And they sincerely say—thank you! after each. Do you get the point of what God is telling you? And what you tell God!

Psalm 135:13 “Your name, O Lord, endures forever, your renown, O Lord, through all generations.” Your and my lifespan is very short. You and I will be remembered by our children and grandchildren and possibly by our great grandchildren. After that time period the memory of each of us is questionable at best. Absolutely no so for our Almighty God. He has been known since time began and will be known into eternity. We continually study to learn more of Him. What a privilege to love and be loved by our Wonderful God.
