I Corinthians 15:2 “By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.” The Good News all Christians enjoy is life saving. One can have all the wealth of this world and experience all the pleasures of this world while never knowing the saving truth of the Gospel and his/her life on this earth will have been meaningless no matter seeming accomplishments. Knowing the truth of The Gospel and enjoying the life of eternity with our Savior is by far the most valuable treasure one can possibly possess. Hold your Savior’s hand firmly–never let go!

I Corinthians 13:13 “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Is faith ultra important for life with God? Absolutely! Is hope ultra important for life with God? Absolutely! What makes love greater than faith or hope? Can one have faith without love? No! Can one have hope without love? No! All three are essential ingredients. Yet love, God’s love, defines the other two–faith and hope. Is it that faith and hope are inner, personal attributes and love is both internal and external? Yes. One cannot truly appreciate either God or fellow mankind without love. Very, very interesting passage.

I Corinthians 13:11 “When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.” Childhood can be an enjoyable time of dependence on one’s parents. That is God’s intent. Good parents help shape a child’s being. The responsibilities of a faithful parent are tremendous. To shape a child is a wonderful and fulfilling task. When that child becomes an adult he/she assumes the same responsibility as his/her parents. What a privilege it is to faithfully live in God’s plan in the stages of the circle of life, serving our Heavenly Father in every stage.

I Corinthians 13:7 “It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Out of 9 words, 4 are the word–always–. Consistency dominates. You and I cannot show love once and then expect love traits to be dominate in our lives. You and I must be consistent. Protection, trust, hope and perseverance are traits which define you and me constantly–always–. Anyone who knows you or me and is either loved by you or me or who loves you or me has no doubt of the passion owned when the thought of love exists. That thought is true in our relationship with each other and in our relationship with our Heavenly Father and in His relationship with us.

I Corinthians 13:6 “Love does nor delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” Love will always dictate you or I want the best to be the experience of those we love. The person/s we love always wants the best for us in return. When a loved one needs help, we will give help. When one we love has any need we can help fulfill, we will be there with whatever the need is. It is impossible to ignore a loved one. Why would any of us ever lie to one we love. Lying is just the opposite of love. Honesty, without fail, is another true sign of concern and love.

I Corinthians 13:5 “It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.” Can you say you have the 4 traits described in this passage? Do you or I try to understand the other person without placing ourselves as being more important? Being concerned for those we love and showing that love through our behavior is another important trait in the definition of love.

I Corinthians 13:4 “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” In this entire chapter God defines love. We have all told someone on this earth–I love you–what did you really mean? When you tell God you love Him, –what do you mean? Can you love someone and not be patient, kind, concerned for their well being more than yourself? When you love–you are more concerned for the one you love than you are for yourself. Now, who do you love?

I Corinthians 11:32 “When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.” God’s Word is absolute truth. You and I are obligated as Christians to listen to what our God has to say. We gain our principles of life from our Heavenly Father. We have all been involved in discussions where varying opinions as to morals, life styles, unmarried couples living together, divorce, abortion and other important life issues are discussed. Do we simply agree to disagree or do we search the Scriptures to determine God’s truth? Isn’t God’s truth necessary for all our questions to be answered? God’s truth is essential for every Christian to come to the truths which produce a joyful, peaceful and contented life.

I Corinthians 12:27 “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” Every one of us, without exception, has a specific purpose as determined by our God. No one is more or less important than another. In the large picture of praising our God and serving Him and His kingdom on this earth each of us has a responsibility. Your responsibility or service is different than mine and your gifts or talents are different than mine. The important piece is for each of us to converse with God and and then serve Him as He intends. Knowing each of us is a piece of the whole makes us united in our service to Him.

I Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Have you ever asked yourself—-What does God expect of me? Yes, Jesus lived and died because of His great love for me, but what does God expect of me? This all inclusive passage answers the question. Everything you or I do is to give glory to God. That is our life assignment. Jesus’ great love for me caused Him to do what He did—now, our great love for Him causes us to do all that you and I do—all we do— is to give Him the glory He deserves and expects. There is no greater honor.

I Corinthians 10:13b “…And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” Never, in life will God desert you. Always, in life God is faithful. Have you ever asked yourself—why does God love me? What have I done which causes Him to shower blessings on me, love me, die for me and wants to bring me to live with Him forever in Heaven? The answer is—-you and I have done absolutely nothing. He created you and me. He knew you and me before He created this world and He wants you and me to be with Him eternally. He is the answer, not you or me. We could not worship and praise a more wonderful and loving Heavenly Father.

I Corinthians 9:25 “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” To receive the rewards or blessings on this earth through using our God given talents is admirable and enjoyable, but as the vision goes–no one leaves this earth followed by a U-Haul. We all live to hear the wonderful words as we enter Heaven—“well done, good and faithful servant;” or whatever words God chooses as He welcomes us and we gain our eternal crown. That crown motivates you and me to run the race and to run with all our heart.
