Psalm 116:16 “Truly I am your servant, Lord; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains.” Do you have a strong desire to be a servant? Do you have a strong desire for Someone else to control you? Is your desire to not be of your own, but to follow the will of your Master? The correct answer to all three questions is the same–yes. But, it seems like then you and I have given up total independence. Yes, we have. And have gained the most joyful and secure life possible being faithful to the One who could not love us more. Enjoy being blessed by the Great Master of the Universe.

Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servant.” Every moment in the life of a faithful, yet sinful, child of God is of great value, loved and cherished by our God. How can God love each of when, at times, we are not loveable? I can’t say any of us understand that. We never will understand that. He looks forward to our being with Himself for eternity. He looks forward to our death as should we. What a phenomenal God we trust and can place our full confidence in.

Psalm 116:13 “I will life up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.” To know the true God and to have an ever-growing relationship with Him carries with it the most treasured eternal gift imaginable. To ignore or to deny God is the most detrimental mistake imaginable. Our Psalmist could not be clearer–live in the joy provided by our Lord God Almighty! Worship Him and live in the security only He can provide.

Psalm 117:1 “Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples.” The unique word–extol–is dominate in this passage. We rarely use the word extol. I don’t think I have ever used the word except in reference to praising God. To praise God is to honor and worship Him with high regard, while to extol Him is to praise, worship and honor Him at a level where there is nothing higher. You and I extol Him!
