I Corinthians 11:32 “When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.” God’s Word is absolute truth. You and I are obligated as Christians to listen to what our God has to say. We gain our principles of life from our Heavenly Father. We have all been involved in discussions where varying opinions as to morals, life styles, unmarried couples living together, divorce, abortion and other important life issues are discussed. Do we simply agree to disagree or do we search the Scriptures to determine God’s truth? Isn’t God’s truth necessary for all our questions to be answered? God’s truth is essential for every Christian to come to the truths which produce a joyful, peaceful and contented life.

I Corinthians 12:27 “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” Every one of us, without exception, has a specific purpose as determined by our God. No one is more or less important than another. In the large picture of praising our God and serving Him and His kingdom on this earth each of us has a responsibility. Your responsibility or service is different than mine and your gifts or talents are different than mine. The important piece is for each of us to converse with God and and then serve Him as He intends. Knowing each of us is a piece of the whole makes us united in our service to Him.

I Corinthians 10:31 “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Have you ever asked yourself—-What does God expect of me? Yes, Jesus lived and died because of His great love for me, but what does God expect of me? This all inclusive passage answers the question. Everything you or I do is to give glory to God. That is our life assignment. Jesus’ great love for me caused Him to do what He did—now, our great love for Him causes us to do all that you and I do—all we do— is to give Him the glory He deserves and expects. There is no greater honor.

I Corinthians 10:13b “…And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.” Never, in life will God desert you. Always, in life God is faithful. Have you ever asked yourself—why does God love me? What have I done which causes Him to shower blessings on me, love me, die for me and wants to bring me to live with Him forever in Heaven? The answer is—-you and I have done absolutely nothing. He created you and me. He knew you and me before He created this world and He wants you and me to be with Him eternally. He is the answer, not you or me. We could not worship and praise a more wonderful and loving Heavenly Father.

I Corinthians 9:25 “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.” To receive the rewards or blessings on this earth through using our God given talents is admirable and enjoyable, but as the vision goes–no one leaves this earth followed by a U-Haul. We all live to hear the wonderful words as we enter Heaven—“well done, good and faithful servant;” or whatever words God chooses as He welcomes us and we gain our eternal crown. That crown motivates you and me to run the race and to run with all our heart.

I Corinthians 8:6 “yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.” The world thrives on gods that have no eternal value. The god of self, the god of wealth, the god of popularity, the god of education, the god of untold numbers of idols and the list of gods throughout history is endless. Wood, metal or stone are worshipped as if they were real. As Christians, we honor and praise only one Triune God. What an honor it is to eliminate all the worldly confusion of gods and know the only one true God. Have a great weekend.

I Corinthians 8:3 “But the man who loves God is known by God.” God is loved by you. Why is that important? Answer: Your name is written in His Book of Life. There is nothing more important. How great it is to know you will never have a bad day! Your and my life will not be perfect and trouble free, yet you and I live in the comfort and security provided by our Savior walking by our side. We live a constant miracle.

I Corinthians 7:23 “You were bought at a price, do not become slaves of men.” Jesus bought each of us with His life, His death and His resurrection. Our sin became His. We are now free to live in total freedom knowing our life on earth and eternally is without the devastating burden of wondering how to please our God through some kind of good works. Freedom to enjoy life and eternity—what a fantastic blessing! Why would we ever trade that by listening to others and becoming slaves to earthly thinking? Freedom provided by God or the slavery of man promoted earthly pleasures—we all make a choice—which do you choose?

I Corinthians 7:7b “…But each man has his own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that.” You and I have been given gifts from God. Your personality, your talents and the person that makes your individuality, you have been given as a free gift from your Heavenly Father. Be humble, yet be proud of the person God has made you to be. You serve God as His child in the special way God has given you the life you have. No two of us are identical in gifts. Be thankful for who you are and serve God with your blessed talents.

I Corinthians 6:19-20 “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” Two unusual thoughts: 1. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. 2. You are not your own. 1. Since the Holy Spirit LIVES within you, He is active. He is not a dormant thing, hibernating and waiting for you to wake up. He is active which makes you active in representing God and being His faithful child.2. You have been purchased. When anyone purchases an item, that item becomes theirs. Jesus purchased you with His life, death and resurrection. You are His. That is far from being a negative. Realize, you can live enjoying all the benefits God gives. Those benefits are beyond our imagination.#s 1 & 2 are fantastic! Have a great weekend.

I Corinthians 6:17 “But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.” How close to God are you? You are as close to God as close gets. As His adopted child, with a faith that is like that of a child, every one of us as Christians have a relationship with our God that is incomprehensibly close and wonderfully awesome as we journey, never alone, through this life and into eternity in Heaven. To have such a relationship with God—nothing is more comforting.

I Corinthians 6:12 “‘Everything is permissible for me’–but not everything is beneficial. ‘Everything is permissible for me’–but I will not be mastered by anything.” To follow our Savior and not be bound by man made rules in regard to faith is a wonderful freedom enjoyed by every Christian. Many religions place tradition and self made rules as laws of God. What does God say in His Bible is always the source of His will-never man made theology. But every Christian has to be sensitive to others so even though he has freedom, he/she is patiently willing to explain Biblical truths without enforcing church rules or tradition as God’s demands. We have a prayer request from Nick and Wendy—-Please pray for our dear friend Bill. He is dealing with stage 3 Pancreatic Cancer. We believing he will be healed. Thank you.
