Always promote peace

Proverbs 24:29 “Do not say, ‘I’ll do to him as he has done to me; I’ll pay that man back for what he did.” Revenge is ever included in the attributes of a Christian.  Living and teaching God’s love should dominate our attitudes.  A person would think that getting even would level the playing field, but it always makes the field rougher, rockier and far less enjoyable to play on.  Peace must dominate.

Really a victory?

Proverbs 24:17 “Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice.” When you or I are successful be joyful yet have compassion on the one who suffers.  Rejoicing over someone else’s failure is a precursor to one’s own failure.  Working hard while encouraging others to also work hard should be all of our goals.  Gloating is never a character trait of a Christian.

Life on earth

Proverbs 24:16 “for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again.” Yesterday a fine Christian young man was brought to our Lighthouse recovering from a relapse from alcoholism.  He has relapsed multiple times.  He loves his Savior and enjoys a close relationship with his Heavenly Father.  He is sorrowful and is living in the frustration of trying to cope with life and alcoholism.  If you knew him you would love him as he is normally a very gentle man of God.  Could all of you pray for him?  His name starts with a J.  Another in a very similar boat has a name that starts with a D.  Another T.  Another M.  Another I.  Another C.  Another W.  Another K.  Another B.  Another D.  Another C.  Pray for them all–Thank you.  Enjoy rereading the passage.

Crave sweetness

Proverbs 22:14 “Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.” Have you ever tasted honey directly from a honeycomb?  The honey is deliciously sweet.  That is exactly what our author is telling us in regard to wisdom.  Wisdom is precious-sweet-for the soul.  Two precious intangibles–wisdom and the soul.  Though intangible, continually seek wisdom for it gives your being-your soul-precious life and confidence for your salvation.

Advantages of being wise and knowledgeable

Proverbs 24:5 “A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength.” Throughout Proverbs God’s advice to His children–that is you and me–is to have a close and secure relationship with Him.  When that relationship thrives so will peace, security and comfort.  All of us–always pray for wisdom, knowledge and a handheld tight loving connection with our Dear Father.
