A daily prayer?

Psalm 67:1 “may God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us–” It is very difficult for you and me to truly realize what we are asking when we pray this Psalm.  We are asking the true God of the Universe, with all His power 1. to love us and 2. to shower us with His richness and 3. make us His faithful disciples.  Could we possibly ask for more?  The piece which is so difficult for you and me to understand is God answering us and saying—sure, I can and will do that!  We can only thank our wonderful God.

Key words–Praise, not rejected, love

Psalm 66:20 “Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love for me!” The relationship every Christian has with their Savior is beyond unique.  We praise Him, and we know He listens with love.  All fathers should let the example our God provides permeate their {our} lives and the result will be praise and love.  We worship an amazing God.  We praise and thank Him.

Praise God

Psalm 66:8 “Praise our God, all peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard;” God certainly deserves our continual praise.  Are we faithful in that praise? None of us can say–yes.  David gives us a great reminder.  Let’s not be overwhelmed with the chores of this life and forget the purpose of life, our responsibilities in this life and the praise and honor we joyfully and faithfully give to our God.

Consistent thought

Psalm 59:17 “You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.” Our author, David, knows he cannot live without God.  He knows he must have a close relationship with Him.  And David wants the rest of the world to know this same truth applies to each of us.  Can anyone think of anytime in their life when David’s truth does not apply?  Since none of us can—let’s live accordingly.

Repeated thought for emphasis

Psalm 59:17 “You are my strength, I will sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.” Why would David repeat a thought?  Answer: Because of the importance of that thought.  The truths of this passage guide our lives–constantly guide our lives.  This thought could be repeated a million times and it wouldn’t be enough.  If that’s the truth, and it is, this passage has a huge impact thought on your and my lives. Have a great weekend.
