Join whom?

II Timothy 2:3 “Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” Wouldn’t you think that as a faithful follower of Jesus we would have a life of pleasure, comfort and enjoyment?  We would if this life was Heaven, but it is far from Heaven.  This world is full of corruption, earthly ruinous desire and those who are set on either denying Jesus or destroying those who are faithful to him.  Why?  The force of the devil is very strong.  You and I, like soldiers are constantly involved in a battle.  Our responsibility is to be strong, represent our Savior and spread His truth as we travel on our journey to live with our Savior forever.

Guard the truth

II Timothy 1:14 “Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.” Paul knew the extreme value of God’s words of absolute truth.  He wanted Timothy to place that same value on God’s truths and he also knew the Holy Spirit would help Timothy defend and expose that truth to others.  God is telling you and me that same thought.  Spread the Gospel and don’t be afraid to do so.  The Holy Spirit lives within you and me also.

A phenomenal thought

II Timothy 1:10 “but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus who has destroyed death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.” Only God could both destroy death and bring immortality.  What a privilege and joy it is for you and me to have as our best friend our Jesus who brings us life and immortality.  That thought has got to make our day–or should we say–our life!! Have a great weekend.

You have three traits

II Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” None of us should be shy about spreading the Gospel.  To be blessed with the gift of eternal life is the most loving and precious gift anyone can receive.  Why, when that gift is available to every believer would we not spread the word?  We must all pray for courage to testify to the truth, live that truth and share in the marvels of that truth.

Richly blessed

I Timothy 6:17 ‘Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.’ Anyone who puts their security in earthly assets is gambling with a certainty of calamity.  Anyone who puts their security in the surety of eternal life with their Heavenly Father because of the redemptive work of their Savior enjoys the assets of this life as blessings from God.  Enjoy and be secure.
