works vs. faith

Romans 9:32m “…they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works…” You and I can do nothing to gain eternal life.  We live and die by faith.  We receive all the benefits of being children of God because of the advocacy work of our Savior.  We live under the wonderful umbrella of grace only which is a free and loving gift from our Savior.  Our good works show our appreciation for His grace.  If we think otherwise we detract from the the total work and love for us expressed in our Savior’s indescribable love.  Good works are a natural action of appreciation, nothing more and nothing less.

God is a potter

Romans 9:21 “Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?” God has a purpose for all of us.  We have all been created by Him to give glory to Him by using whatever talents He has given to each of us.  In considering our purpose we must always be asking ourselves both is this what God would have me do and does what I do give glory to God?   We are living on this earth to faithfully serve Him and not selfishly serve ourselves.

God’s mercy

Romans 9:16 “It does not, therefore, depend on human desire, but on God’s mercy.” You and I, as chosen children of God, have to be as appreciative as appreciation gets.  God has adopted you.  God has adopted me.  There is not a greater honor anyone can realize.  A lot of fanfare was recently displayed in England.  That celebration is nothing compared to the honor God has given each of us by adopting each of us as His dear child.  Always live your life giving Him glory and showing genuine appreciation.

What makes you a child of God?

Romans 9:8 “In other words, It is not the children by physical descent who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring.” By faith you and I have inherited the awesome right to be called the child of God.  Can we take a second and realize what that means?  A child of God!! There is nothing more awesome.  You and I have an inherited relationship which is so awesome we find it impossible to comprehend.  You and I are a child of the Most High!  What great love we enjoy!

Nothing can

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers , neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Could there be anything more magnificent? Have a great weekend.

A rhetorical question

Romans 8:31 “What, then, shall we say in response to these things?  If God is for us, who can be against us? As imperfect human beings we have the impossibe task of understanding our perfect God.  Yet, here is a question posed by our perfect God—-since I love you and take care of you, who or what could possibly destroy My perfect relationship with you?  The answer is so obvious it is unnecessary—-nothing and noone.  The strength provided by our God to each of us is beyond measure.  Enjoy living with that beautiful relationship.
