A name you love

Psalm 119:132 “Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name.” When you think of a person’s name you immediately think of qualities that are unique to that person.  When you hear or say the name Jesus you think of His great love for all of mankind.  As soon as Adam and Eve sinned the name of Jesus meant an overwhelming love and mercy which can be applied to no other name. What a wonderful name!  Jesus!

Discernment and understanding

Psalm 119:125 “I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes.” As servants, as followers, as children, as adopted, as recipients of His perfect love for us each of us we want to live a life of understanding realizing perfect wisdom and perfect peace is only found walking by the side of our Heavenly Father.  In life, in death and throughout eternity each of us cherishes, for the present and for the future the tight relationship we enjoy being embraced by our God.

The value of God

Psalm 119:114 “You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.” There is never a time in our lives when we are alone.  There is never a time in our lives when we are not protected.  There is never a time in our lives when we cannot confidently trust in the loving protection and guidance offered freely from our Heavenly Father.  Our earthly lives and our salvation is secure.  Another wonderful blessing from our wonderful God.

Familiar words and thoughts

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” You and I cannot see without light.  Without light we would wonder in chaos.  We would be continually injuring ourselves and have to endure the frustration of never knowing either where we have been or where we are going.  Without Jesus we would wonder on this earth with no light or knowledge of truth.  Fortunately, we have bright light and we live with direction and purpose.  All and only because we know our Savior.  What a blessing!

Honey is sweet

Psalm 119:103 “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth.” Usually treats are given when some task is performed successfully.  Treats are not continually given or they are no longer treats.  God does not think like that.  He gives each of us treats continually.  Like sweet honey we can read and study His Word and receive the sweet thoughts of absolute truth whenever we open the Bible.  What a wonderful privilege to be treated with His sweetness, like honey, continually.  Enjoy the treats! Have a great weekend.

Don’t limit yourself

Psalm 119:97 “To all perfection I see a limit; but your commands are boundless.” Human mentality, no matter how ambitious, has limitations.  All that man perceives has boundaries because it is impossible for humans to become god.  We do, however, join and live with God who has no boundaries and no limitations.  I cannot think of the slightest reason to not be as close as possible to our Omni God.
