Proverbs 5:7 “Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say.” How can we know what God says without reading what God says? Sounds simple? It is. We are to read, learn and follow what our God has to so wisely say. There is no way we can do this without opening our Bible. Yet, many of us attend church or zoom church and live life not understanding the rich treasure that might even sit in sight within our homes. Use your treasure. Value it as God intends. Enjoy the treasure of your life.

Proverbs 4:20-21 “My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words, do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;” None of this passage would be followed if a person ignored God’s Word, His Bible. As Christians we love to read and ponder on our Father’s instruction. We fall short of being perfect as God expects, but that personal falling short is exactly why we have an Advocate, our Savior. Proverbs 4:18 “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” Sometimes it rains and sometimes the sun shines. That is the daily life of all of us on this earth. An interesting scientific word for this remarkable change within life is metamorphosis. A caterpillar turns into a butterfly. For a person who has a close relationship with The Master of the Universe earthly life is always looked on as sunshine, butterfly and hope. We look forward to our eternity of amazing wonder.

Proverbs 4:13 “Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.” An acronym for Bible is: Basic instruction before leaving earth. Instruction is the key word. God could have written more words. God could have written less words. God wrote the exact number of words you and I needed for instruction. It is your and my responsibility to carefully ad wisely study those words and thoughts and then apply their instruction.

Proverbs 4:5 “Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them,” The thought of gaining wisdom is used over 100 times in the book of Proverbs. God could have had Solomon write the thought once, but He apparently wanted you and me to gain and value the wisdom which only He can provide. We pray that we make every effort to follow our Heavenly Father’s instruction.

Proverbs 4:1 “Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.” A father has a responsibility to impart wisdom to his children and children have a responsibility to listen to their father. Passing on wisdom and knowledge is one of the most important concerns a father should have. With a lack of this duty both the child and the parent will suffer, but with an understanding both child and parent will receive benefits more valuable than gold.
