II Peter 1:15 “And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.” You and I have the responsibility of passing on the truths of Scriture to our children, grandchildren and any other children or adults we come in contact with. If we ignore this responsibility it will take only one generation for God’s truths to fade into a mindset of irrelevant. How sad the consequences of ignoring responsibility.

II Peter 1:12 “So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have.” God repeatedly reminds us of His great love for each of us. He could just state a truth once, but He knows that we, as forgetful followers need continual reminders. Spouses to each other, parents to children, family mambers to each other, grandparents to grandchildren etc. are continually expressing the same love thoughts to each other. Why? You tell me.

II Peter 1:5-7 “For this reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverence, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.” The qualities of a faith filled Christian = goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection and love. You and I have our work cut out for 2024.

II Peter I:4 “Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. How could our God’s promises be anything other than GREAT and PRECIOUS? When we live the life style He demands–He promises the result is a successful life—guaranteed. When we live admiring and attempting to live the life style of anyone or anything other than God—-our lives will be full of sadness and disappointment. You and I make the choice–2024 can be a great year.

II Peter 1:3 “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.” Our purpose for living is to honor our God while living the life He intends each of us to live. Do you wake up in the morning and say to yourself—what am I going to do today?—or do you wake up in the morning and ask—-what does God want me to do today? Or–what has God prepared for me to do today? The first question focuses on me while the second question focuses on our Creator. We do well focusing on our Creator.

II Peter 1:2 “Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus Christ our Lord.” The grace and peace which we receive from our relationship with our Heavenly Father are two invisible gifts whose value is far beyond measure. Had you been given a Rolls-Royce or Lamborghini for Christmas probably your next door neighbor and many reatives would be excited for you and probably a little jealous. Imagine the excitement when you tell them all you love the grace and peace you received for Christmas from your Heavenly Father. We should all be a million times more excited than getting just a car.

I Peter 5:12 “With the help of Silas, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand fast in it.” Nothing on this earth is more important than your faith. With that being true—share it.

I Peter 5:10 “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.” What if God promised you would become puny, insecure and traitorous. You would shiver in looking forward. But, that is far from God’s promise to all believers. A faith filled adopted and loved child of God, such as you and I are look forward to a life of peace and security. That is God’s grace filled promise. Could we ever hear a better Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter/Resurrection story?

I Peter 5 6-7 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” If all of mankind were to follow the wise advise of practicing humility and eliminating anxiety God’s way, the emotional states of all of us would become relaxed, at peace and tensions would be calmly settled. The entire world will never listen to our God’s advise but you and I certainly should.” Have a great weekend. Jesus is coming!

I Peter 5:4 “And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.” Our Savior’s love for each of His children cannot be greater. Every Christian can try and explain or understand or even tell others of that love but our well intended efforts fall short of realizing the Great Love, Mercy and Grace our Savior has for each and every Christian. His Forgiveness, His Grace, His having us live with Him for all Eternity is incomprehensible, yet absolutely true. Enjoy not understanding!

I Peter 4:16 “However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.” As a Christian, don’t expect the world to fall in love with you. Just the opposite will be and is the case. Your decisions, actions and principles are determined by your faith in Jesus Christ—not by what is determined as acceptably normal by law or groups or individuals. Absolute truth is determined by our Savior—noone and nothing else. A Christian’s life is based on the love of his/her Savior.

I Peter 4:11 “If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen. This passage sure appears to tell us to be aware we are to serve our God 100% of our time on this earth. That is very inclusive and does not say or even imply this awareness applies to any specially trained Christian believers—-it applies to all Christians. Can you imagine what this world would be like if this mentality was realized by everyone? The chaos we live in would disappear. Yet, we as Christians owe our God the respect this passage demands.
