Psalm 119:106 “I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws.” Was this passage fulfilled when you were a baby at your baptism or dedication? Did you possibly fulfill this passage as a confirmand or at your adult baptism? Or are you reading this passage now and realizing–this is something I should do? Whatever your situation, since our Psalmist wrote this and God has it as a part of His Word to you and me, we should be obedient and comply. How will you and I actually do that? A commitment is essential.

Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” This little passage is one of the most beautiful in all of Scripture. If you and I read it, memorize it, take it to heart, apply and live it, we will have the peace and contentedness our God intends for each of us. Although this passage is so small, it has the power of millions of megawatt light bulbs. Turn the switch on and enjoy the beautiful and never-ending light.

Psalm 119:103 “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” A friend of mine about 1 1/2 years ago made smoked brisket. That meat was absolutely delicious. Our Psalmist didn’t write about smoked brisket. He wrote about honey because he knew honey is recognized by everyone in the world as exxxtreemely sweet. Everyone would understand. God’s Word is not smoked brisket, it is the most delightfully pleasing sweetness available to man. God could not love man more than to freely provide you and me and the world with His sweet Gospel. His Gospel–sweeter than honey!

Psalm 119:99 “I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statues.” Our Psalmist is not arrogant or full of self-centeredness. Our Psalmist is simply stating a truth–he meditates on God’s truths and he therefore becomes wise. Conversely, he is also saying–those who ignore God’s word lack wisdom and understanding. Each of us, as even our Psalmist, has a personal choice: wisdom, understanding, insight or the self-thought considerations of this world. Our Psalmist simply states the outcome. Have a great weekend.

Psalm 119:97 “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.” Our God’s love for each of His children is beyond comprehension. How can the God of the Universe and beyond care about each of us as much as He does? What motivates Him for such love? If anyone reading this can explain please respond. All I know is the absolute truth–He does! Doesn’t that motivate us to be faithful to Him?
