Psalm 119:89 “Your word, Lord, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens.” Nothing on this earth is constant. Change is always happening. The seasons change. Our looks change. Desires change. Habits change. Even our hair changes in both amount and color. We accept change. God is different. God never changes. His love and His caring for you and me is eternal, constant, totally dependable and never changes. Whatever God has written in His Word is a constant for all generations. There is nothing more reliable.

Psalm 119:93 “I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life.” How important is Christianity? Oh, maybe of some importance. Maybe it keeps society caring about each other. Life goes on with or without. What tragic thinking, yet that thinking is owned by many. Our Psalmist takes a totally different position. Our God tells you and me and the rest of the world–His precepts (instruction, principles) are the difference between living and dying. Being faithful to Him couldn’t be more important. Be faithful–that is a matter of life and death.

Psalm 119:92 “If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.” For you and me to study God’s Word is a great pleasure in our day of activities. Reading/studying His Words is often difficult even for Biblical scholars as we are by nature human without the intelligence or wisdom of God and therefore to explain His words is not only difficult, it can be studied with a resulting question–I wonder what He meant–I’ll have to ask Him to explain when I see Him in Heaven. Expect to not understand everything as He is God and you and I are His children always listening/studying to learn.

Psalm 119:88 “In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth.” You and I are constantly praying (communicating) with God to be with us as we fulfill our purpose in serving Him throughout our lives. Many people would answer the question–why are you living? with the answer–to get the most pleasure I can out of life. That answer focuses entirely on self. The answer every Christian who lives with appreciation for his Savior’s love is: to honor, serve and obey my God. With that answer we live a wholesome purpose driven life. Have a great weekend.

Psalm 119:86 “All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause.” Wouldn’t it seem that the best and most obedient Christians would suffer the least? Obey, follow God’s Word, study His truths, act as His precious child always and life on earth will be Heaven on earth. The truth is: our thinking is not God’s thinking. In God’s thinking suffering results in glorious hope. As a Christian expect abuse and suffering. All of Jesus’ disciples did (the eleven) and we can learn from them.
