Praise never ends

Psalm 146:1-2 “Praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.” We, as Christians are filled with a spirit of gratitude and praise to our Creator and Redeemer.  How could we do anything less?  Unfortunately, our lives on this earth are also filled with sadness and it becomes difficult for our human nature to realize at times the goodness and greatness of our God.  That dual existence of praise and sadness will not exist in eternity when we no longer are forced to live with our human nature.  Another reason to praise God!

God is near

Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” You are never alone.  You may think you are alone, but you never are.  Your Heavenly Father is always with you.  Why does this truth need to be emphasized and believed?  There are approximately 1000 suicides in the United States every week.  You did not read that wrong—approx. 1000/week.  That is certainly a sign of desperate loneliness.  You are always surrounded in the love of your Heavenly Father.  That is a wonderful and comforting thought.

A table prayer

Psalm 145:15-16 “The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food at the proper time.  You open your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.” This is one of a few table prayers I learned as a little boy.  So now as an older man we say this table prayer before meals often. Teach your children and grandchildren so their entire lives will be blessed with words of their Heavenly Father.

Our support

Psalm 145:14 “The Lord upholds all those who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” God could not possibly be more caring and loving.  Even though He demands perfection, He provides perfection for each of us.  Let’s think of an earthly example.  As a parent you tell your child to make their bed.  They are late for school.  You make their bed.  Your child comes home and sees his bed made.  He comes to you and says—Thank you!  Your response—I was glad to.  A simple example, yet, God is covering for each of us constantly.  And He always will—that is His loving nature.  Our response—Thank You! Have a great weekend.
