Psalm 71:24a “My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long…” Are you serious? All day long? People will judge me as crazy! Can’t I go bowling or golfing or talk with my friends or even walk the beach? Of course, God says.–He wants us to have a life of joy, using our talents and fulfilling our purpose. Bottom line–in our life of joy, using our talents, bowling, golfing or walking the beach—we ALWAYS represent our Savior AND what a privilege that is!

Psalm 71:19 “Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God?” For you and me to recognize the uniqueness of God is to walk humbly with Him. To place God above, far above everything is to try and understand the oneness of the being of God and to humbly appreciate the love God has for each of us. What an honor it is to be called a child of God. To say or write that God is great is a total understatement. We have to say with our Psalmist–Who is like you, God? Nave a great weekend.

Psalm 71:18 “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.” There is no such thing as retirement in God’s eyes. You and I are responsible to teach by words, life style and our entire being. Whether we realize it or not that is exactly what we do–either for the advancement or detriment of our children, grandchildren or great grandchildren. The mighty power of God is impossible to ignore and impossible not to praise throughout life to our dying day. To ignore this responsibility is just the opposite of what God expects of each of us.

Psalm 71:17 “Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds.” What a blessing many children experience when they are raised by Christian parents in a Christian home. How sad it is when children do not experience growing up in such an environment. David experienced the former and was extremely appreciative. It is the responsibility of all parents to teach and train their children the truths of God as they become parents. Praise God if you have been such a child or such a parent.

Psalm 71:16 “I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.” We as human beings have difficulty realizing the magnificence of God for a few reasons: 1. There is no one who comes within miles of His glory and abilities 2. No one has ever seen Him in His full glory 3. He is totally unlike any other being 4. He never changes 5. His love for us is so unique we do not understand how it can be 6. He wants you and me to live with Him eternally in a place called Heaven when we leave this earth. If anyone of you reading this short devotion can explain any of the above, please take over writing these devotional thoughts. You are not human.
