Psalm 119:41 “May your unfailing love come to me, Lord, your salvation, according to your promise;” God’s love for you and me is beyond our comprehension. His desire for His children (you and me) to be with Himself is also the best news we will ever hear. The fact that our eternal life with Him is guaranteed is unfathomable. How could any of us not want to honor and be faithful to our Almighty God.

Psalm 119:40 “How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life.” Every Christian has a strong desire to live the life God wants him/her to live. There is never a whimsical attitude of take it or leave it. Every Christian desires a life of purpose, following God’s path, studying His Word and both living and telling His story. How blessed we are as we follow His guidance.

Psalm 119:37 “Turn my eyes away from useless things; preserve my life according to your word.” This passage speaks directly to living with worthwhile purpose. Anything we do on this earth which brings us to a closer relationship with our God is worthwhile and anything which does not is worthless: maybe not only worthless, but detrimental.Focus on purposeful living with Heaven as our goal and earth as our preparation location.

Psalm 119:35 “Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.” Nothing is more obvious than the need for a baby to be cared for and directed. As that baby matures to be one, then 2, then 4, then 10 the need is continually extremely important but not as seemingly obvious. How about when that child becomes 20, then 50, even at 70 there is still a need for the contents of this passage. There is never a time in life, in everyone’s life, that God’s direction is not needed. Your and my prayer is a constant: God direct me. Have a great weekend.

Psalm 119:34 “Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.” Our Psalmist has a sincere ask of his Savior. You and I have the identical request as does every child of God. And the request is not only very sincere, but the request also involves the entire being of a person. “with all my heart” is not just a pretty group of words. it involves utmost sincerity–identical to Jesus’ love for each of us.
