Psalm 8615 “But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” You and I could not worship a more wonderful God. Compassionate, gracious, patient, loving and faithful. We should go back to the word love–He is abounding in love. For those of us who are married–would your spouse say you or I are abounding in love? Maybe we should learn something else (about ourselves) from this passage. Maybe as spouses we have a lot to learn. Or even as we treat each other.

Psalm 86:8 “Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours.” The recent venture of Artemis II amazed the astronauts and all of as to the incomprehensible vastness of our universe and the other universes which we have no idea how to describe. How do we describe our God? I have no idea what to write as to God’s magnificence, power — His entire being. Everything people worship comparing to God is beyond senseless. Added to this is: God loves you and me. How can we comprehend that? He created us. He lived, died and rose to show that love and He will bring us to live with Himself for all eternity. Whoever comprehends all this–please respond and explain to me.

Psalm 86:5 “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.” Consider this: God is real–You talk to God–He listens–He wants the best for you–He abounds in love–You completely trust His path for you. The question: Do you wholeheartedly believe the preceding? if so, your and my life now and in the future could not possibly be better. Have a great weekend.

Psalm 86:4 “Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you.” This passage/prayer is both a request and the reason for the request. Joy on this earth is very short lived when earthly assets are considered and eternal when God’s love is considered. The peace, comfort and contentedness realized from trusting in God is not found in any possession–not a Ferrari, a huge IRA, temporary popularity or whatever else we might own and enjoy. Our assets are simply gifts to be enjoyed==why? Because we place 100% of our trust in our Savior, That is what Easter Sunday was all about! We have a special prayer request for Ron and Sandra-friends of ours in Naples. Ron is in the hospital and Sandra (his wife) is by his side. They both need the relaxed comfort which only God can provide.

Psalm 86:2 “Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.” What a beautiful sincere prayer David wrote for us to pray even as he did. Guard–faithful–save–trust–my life–my God–mercy–call all day long. These are words which guarantee a close relationship with our Heavenly Father. How blessed we are.

Psalm 85:8 “I will listen to what God the Lord says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants–…” All of us have a choice: listen to what God’s Word says or ignore what God’s Word says. One cannot pick and choose. What does God say about subjects which seem to be very controversial–like: divorce, adultery, abortion, helping the poor, greed, raising children, work effort—all of life from the time we wake up until we go to sleep. There is no such thing as-if it’s political we can’t talk about it or we are all entitled to our own opinions. Reread especially to the first few words of this verse. These few words should guide our lives.

Psalm 85:7 “Show us your unfailing love, Lord, and grant us your salvation.” Without the events last week of Jesus’ life, death and resurrection all of us would stand before God –imperfect, unforgiven and sinfully inadequate to appear before our Heavenly Father. But, the events of last week did happen–Jesus brought life to all of us culminating in His resurrection. Easter is far from being about colored eggs, ham dinner and rabbits. My wife and I were privileged to be at the beach yesterday morning, see the sunrise and celebrate Easter with calm waves and the joy of our Savior’s love in our hearts. How did you celebrate this glorious day of our Savior’s resurrection and the sealing of our eternal redemption?

Psalm 84:4 “Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you.” You and I are blessed as/when we are faithful children of our Heavenly Father. We place our full confidence and trust in Him. We don’t just say we do–we actually do! There is nothing better than to be blessed by God. We don’t just worship Him one day of the week–we worship Him and praise Him every day–all day. How blessed you and I are. Have a great weekend.

Psalm 82:5 “The “gods” know nothing, they understand nothing. They walk around in darkness; all the foundations of the earth are shaken.” How can the “gods” of this world have such strong recognition, power and influence while the Creator of the Universe, the God of Magnificence, the One and Only True God is ignored? We, given our human nature, often fail in our own lives to recognize the Authority of God. We make earthly assets, education, seeming important people, temporary success all become the important “gods” of life while forgetting our purpose and eternal goal. How can we be so foolish? We have to continually pray that God has us serve His purpose and never allow “gods” to dominate.

Psalm 81:13a “If my people would only listen to me…” The words of this passage were written approximately 3000 years ago. These words are as true today as they have been in the past. And they are not just written for someone else—they are written for you and me and our children and grandchildren. These words are written for us to teach to our family. If only….we listen, apply God’s truths—our lives would be blessed as our God intends.

Psalm 81:1 “Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob.” Is it fair to say (write) that either a person has strength or a person has weakness? Is it fair to say (again, write) that a Christian has strength. That isn’t to write a Christian is problem free or is perfect–it is to write–a Christian relies in faith on the strength provided by his/her Heavenly Father. If strength is absent– anxiety, depression and a feeling of loneliness does exist. Not only is our Psalmist expressing the thought of strength with a relationship with Jesus, but to delight in that strength–sing, rejoice and shout about it! What a joy to live and be thankful for such a faith.

Psalm 81:1 “Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob.” God makes Himself known to you and me through the Bible, through nature and through our individual hearts and souls. Our Psalmist not only knew of God, he knew that from God comes peace, contentedness and strength. How can any of us, knowing this truth, not earnestly and excitedly thank and praise the God of our forefathers and our loving, wonderful Redeemer.
