Praise Him

Psalm 99:5 “Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy.” Pride is detrimental to living successfully.  Humility is key to successful living.  Humbly serving our God is exactly your and my responsibility.  In studying His Word we cannot help but learn His Almighty Power and His love far beyond measure for each of us.  What an honor it is to humbly worship at His magnificent throne.

Difficult at times

Psalm 98:4 “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;” At times in all of our lives it is very difficult to shout and be jubilant.  There are multiple persons who receive these devotions who have lost their spouse, who are suffering from serious illness, who have lost loved ones, who have addictions and therefore have many difficulties.  Life on earth can be very difficult no matter what one pretends on Facebook.  Yet, our God is always magnificent, loving and will one day bring us to Himself where beauty is all there is.  Praise God always for His loving kindness.

No secret

Psalm 98:2 “The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.” God has never been secretive.  He is as honest as honest gets and is as loving as only God can be.  He has told the world the route to success; His formula for contentedness; the salvation attained exclusively through His Son and all there is to know about having a relationship with Him which guarantees a peace found nowhere else.  Your and my responsibility is to pray for and believe all these phenomenal free gifts from our Father.

Rejoice

Psalm 98:1 “Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.” Our Savior brought salvation to the world.  He is not just a great prophet or a hero of some kind; He is the Savior of the world.  You and I cannot truly live without Him.  Because of His sinless perfection we inherit eternal life in Heaven.  Marvelous, fantastic, amazing and any superlative describe our Redeemer.  Great is our God.

Duty of the faithful

Psalm 97:12 “Rejoice in the Lord, you who are righteous, and praise his holy name.” The likelihood of any of us ever having been called holy is Zero.  The Only One the word Holy accurately applies to is God.  Since that statement is true, isn’t it also true that we should study His Bible to learn as much as we possibly can?  Isn’t it also true that all faithful believers=the righteous, would rejoice and praise His Holy Name.  You and I have a responsibility and privilege today and everyday.

Light and you

Psalm 97:11 “Light shines on the righteous and joy on the upright in heart.” Have you even been asked–how are you?  And your answer is “fine” or “better than I ought to be” or “alright”.  Our answer to that question is most often from slight depression to full blown negative.  Why? Because we don’t live intentionally realizing the caring love our Savior wants you and me to feel.  His caring love is always shining.  Now, how are you?  Answer: Couldn’t be better!

Love hates

Psalm 97:10 “Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.” You and I cannot love God while at the same time want to enjoy anything this world suggests is a pleasure.  This world’s pleasures always lead to a chaotic life and a sadness which totally overrides the tiny temporary pleasure.  Contentedness, peace and joyful living always accompany a faithful relationship with our Heavenly Father. Have a great weekend.

God is Supreme

Psalm 97:9 “For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.” Our Psalmist continually tells us the foolishness of worshipping the gods of this earth.  We are time after time warned of placing anything in front of God in our lives.  It is totally senseless to follow man made idols when God presents Himself as the True Majestic Master and as His faith filled followers we can enjoy the tremendous benefits He showers on each of us. Why would anyone give that up?

Honor our Creator God

Psalm 96:9 “Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.” How much time in our day do we spend honoring God?  How much time in our day do we spend being concerned about ourselves?  Our health, our finances, our earthly relationships, our meals, our homes–just simply ourselves.  Let’s make our relationship with our Savior dominate our thinking and everything else will simply fall into place as God intends.  We will find we couldn’t live better.

God is God

Psalm 96:6 “Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.” The magnificence of God is not only impossible to describe, but also impossible to comprehend.  Does Great sufficiently describe from eternity to eternity?  Does the cross explain carrying the wrongs of everyone in the entire world?  Does rising from death describe the impossible?  You and I place our total confidence and guaranteed hope in God.  Why?  Because God is God!

MEANING VS. MEANINGLESS

Psalm 96:4-5 “For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.  For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.” How in all the world do some men and women find themselves worshipping stones or wooden figures or anything of meaningless value?  Distortions of thought can make anything a god.  False gods to a clear mind are almost comical if it weren’t for their destructive nature.  What a blessing it is to know intimately the loving Creator of the Universe.  To know Him is the greatest blessing we could possibly receive.

3 key words in 1 verse

Psalm 96:2 “Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.” What are the 3 key words God would have us know?  Every Christian enjoys expressing these 3 words constantly.  Very short verse that identifies who you and I are. Have a great weekend.
