The Good Shepherd

John 9:14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me—just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep.” Without a shepherd the sheep are in desperate danger—-they would live in chaos and would be devoured by wild animals.  With a shepherd they are calm, controlled, safe and never live in fear of whatever animals could do to destroy them.  You and I are the sheep—Jesus is our Shepherd.  We love having our Savior as our Shepherd while even before we knew Him, He loved us and wants us to live with Himself eternally.  That is the marvelous love of our Wonderful Shepherd.

Belong to God

John 8:47 “Whoever belongs to God hears what God says.  The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” There is no such thing as–kind of–.  I kind of believe in God, I kind of think Christmas is about Jesus, I kind of believe after this life there is a heaven and a hell.  I kind of believe in a universal God.  And the kind of list goes on forever–kind of–.   You and I listen to God with our whole open hearts.  We read and study our Bibles because that is where we learn.  We have the believing hearts, minds and souls of a believing child of God.  What a wonderful relationship we have with our Almighty Lord and Savior.  We belong to God.

A foreign language

John 8:43-44a “Why is my language not clear to you?  Because you are unable to hear what I say.  You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires.” There are 2 fathers in the world.  One, our Heavenly Father, and two, the devil, the father of all who do not believe what Jesus has to say.  Every person on earth listens to one or the other.  There is no such thing as—oh, well, there is only one god and a person can worship him however he/she pleases.  It is true—there is only one God, but He is to be worshipped only as Jesus explains.  All else is not only foolishness, but also is placing a person on a terribly destructive road.  This passage is a severe warning from our Savior. We thank God for bringing Ron through surgery successfully. Have a great weekend.
